No Factory torque boxes...USCT front and rear Torque Boxes ordered, What else would you do?

...I put the boxes in because I want a modern hemi in it someday, so it is done. I may have a set of ar 70 b-body plates for like $25 shipped.
For the front spring mount area? That's where these go, right?

Guess my superbird is not real, 440-6 4-speed, no boxes. That guy everyone on here says is stupid, magenta said only hemis and converts in 1970 on 1970 b-bodies. I am pretty sure he is right.
That is what I thought. I never considered the 440-6 cars.
I never recall seeing torque boxes up close before I decided to add them to my red car. I saw what they looked like in parts ads in magazines so I went to a local metal supplier and bought some sheets of 14 gauge steel and formed my own.

I did this with the car on jackstands! Welding with a flux core MIG welder on my back, spatter burning holes in my clothes and grit in my ears!
The frame connectors are 3x3 .120 wall steel. Surely thicker than needed but they didn't have 3x3 in .090 wall. I welded extensions above the top edges to make the connectors appear to go full depth.

They sort of resemble the XV Motorsports or US Cartool style at a fraction of the price.

The rear torque boxes went in after the frame connectors.

Yeah, those are water drops. I washed the underside today to snap these shots for BioMed !

Your car is correct is real, this comes up about every 5 years. If you do not care about the factory look by all means make everything and save some money.

It never ceases to amaze me how quick Mopar guys are to take a position that something did or didn't happen when we (as Mopar guys/gals) know full well that during the era anything was possible. My 70 Challenger is a U code car and it does have torque boxes. While a V code car not having them is abnormal, certainly doesn't definitively mean anything. Should it have them? Yes, it should but perhaps Larry the TQ box guy was in the bathroom when your car came down the line or maybe they ran out of them or the parts were not on station when the car rolled down the line, who knows?

If all the numbers match up, it is more than likely legit and without the TQ boxes a little more interesting that all of the others that did. You can definitely say that this was a possibility and have proof of it. Could have some one rebodied the car somewhere along the way? Sure, they could have but to the point that was made, if the numbers on the radiator core support and trunk gutter match the VIN (along with the tag and sheet), chances are slim that this happened.

There are always oddities...
Be real careful on radiator support vins, they mean nothing when it comes to superbirds as most do not have one. The 70 b-body no torque box on 6bbl unless it is a convert, is a fact, some slipped thru, but not many.

THANKS, I missed that because, well, I ordered subframe connectors and since I was thinking about the torque boxes and was under my car on the lift, I figured I'd take some pictures and I look where I expected to see torque boxes and they don't seem to be there...
SO I start this thread to see what factory torque boxes look like, because I know what USCT boxes look like, and it goes on from there.
The link to the "last go around" is heavily weighted to the side of 70 V-code cars NOT having boxes, but HAVING the skid plate, and that is what I have.
One of the most interesting posts I saw was this:
I've heard people say they should have them too, well mine doesn't have them and its an original track pack car that I have owned for over 35 years so they are wrong.
Now "track pack" to me means Dana 60 w/3.54 gears, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it having to also be a 440 6bbl or Hemi, or if other engines could get the track pack or super track pack (4.10) It SEEMS like he's suggesting his "V-code" car does NOT have torque boxes...
And yet today, I get this turd flung at me, by the same guy:
I don't see any torque boxes, so much for a real V code
So I won't be making any bets on his "expertise"...

My thoughts exactly!

I'm going to take a shot at what is in the picture from top to bottom, but I'd like to confirm that only the 3rd from the top, which I'm guessing are spring plates that go where the nuts for the front of the leaf spring are, is what is important for support?
@4406bbl Would you PLEASE describe the parts in the pic from top to bottom and where they go?

You know your car is right now, that is all that matters, now you can mod it and make it better.

Rear rail reinforcement
Rear spring box
Front spring box
Snubber reinforcement

There are 2 plates for springs front and rear, ECS makes a nice snubber part, cheap too. It will take your guy about an hour to weld those in, prep grinding will take the longest. Just remember, the factory knew where these cars were weak, I fully welded my cowl seams after seeing one on a 2 post lift. I did not want to see the witness marks thru the lead later after beating on the car.

BIG help 4406bbl, thanks again.
I see another Mopar forum had this chat and 95%+ of V-code 70 B-bodies did NOT have torque boxes.

No problem, so many experts told me mine was wrong too, the no vin on a sbird radiator support makes it a real POS. It is entertaining.

Don't worry I have plenty of expertise, I was just getting pretty tired of hearing you say "real" V code on every single post.

But yet you contradict yourself in your own posts?
What does "original track pack car" have to do with torque boxes? The torque boxes you don't have as you posted...
Is it a fact that the track pack/super track pack option was only available on 6bbl and Hemi cars?

V code is no different than any other 440 car, its just an induction package.
They did not have torque boxes, although some did for whatever reason, nobody has ever come up with a good explanation on that. Convertibles yes.
I didn't contradict myself, never said my car had them, again i was poking fun at you, i can see your worried about getting your car right, it just seems to me that you are driving yourself nuts, lighten up.

And i am quite sure your car is a real v code no reason to doubt it.
