I was into MGB's and one day I learned of a early B ( what is referred to as a "pull handle car, a early model B) for sale close by me...I went to see it, the car had been parked outdoors under trees for something like 20 years or so uncovered....It was a wreck, rotten everywhere, a total rust bucket. It was a parts vehicle at best.
The owner thought it was restorable and wanted to see whomever would buy it, restore it.
He knew he couldn't do the restoration himself. I tried to explain the body was too far gone and the mechanicals would need a complete disassembly and rebuilding. The parts alone would make it just unrealistic.
I wanted the car but not that bad and I made him a fair offer. I told him very honestly my intentions was too use as much of the mechanical parts and whatever else I could salvage on another car.
He refused to sell me the car and so I left.
Weeks later I saw another person bought the car, told the owner everything he wanted to hear, how'd he restore it back to showroom condition and whatever bullshit the seller wanted to hear.
And so the buyer got the car and parted it out
And I got the satisfaction that for whatever I may be or what anyone perceives I may be , while no better then the next guy, I make it a point never to deceive, lie, cheat anyone
