Hi Guy's,
Looking to purchase a 7000-8000 pound lift, seems everybody and their
neighbors, and maybe even the neighbors dogs build lifts.
Been reading a lot about them. Thinking I can get something pretty good
in the $4500 range....any thoughts?
Thanks
Dave

If for storage only, buy a 4 post.
Pretty useless for any work on the car goes.

A friend has a couple. He has a back yard buddy (made in the states) and a China special.

the back yard buddy was twice the price. Around 4000, if I remember correctly.

compared, side by side, the USA lift is a much nicer unit

If you can afford twice the price for a USA made lift go for it. 18 years ago I couldn't so I bought a cheap Chinese made one. It's survived all this time under pretty hard use with no problems.

Timely conversation as I'm planning on building a 2nd garage with a bay for a lift.

I’m currently looking at a PP8P Direct Lift. It’s a little over $3500 if I pick it up from the warehouse which is less than an hour away.

Direct Lift is the "home" version of Rotary Lift. Both made in the same facility... both certified..

It's going to be a combination of storage and some work. I understand the space limitations of
working on the underside but hope with jack plates on the lift it wouldn't be too bad.
The $4500 is "flexible", not going to be cheap and miss a feature or option I wish I had
later. Just too dumb to know what those might be, hence the questions of those working
with lifts.
Thanks
Dave

Looked at the Mohawk, looks well made but I want a 4 post. Not often, but I'd like the ability ( I have a level pad )
to roll it outside, load a car or more likely a Jeep and power wash the living hell out of the underside.
Forgot to mention it in the OP.

The 2 post lifts are certainly nicer for car work. However? (There is always a "But" LOL.) I've seen a number of mishaps with 2 post lifts posted. You can get 4 post stands for your 2 post lift if and when using for storage? I would go 2 post. Just knowing to double check balances.

Advantage 4 post here. Mainly storage and oil changes. Rated for 9k lb but I’ll never have more than 4K on it. Nice lift, dealer here is always at the car events.

The Lift Superstore for me. Certified, with heavy steel trays and American made hydraulic pump. I find it great for working under the car.

Your dollies look like the ones my BP came with. The salesman from Best Buy assured me that I could use those on the lift while moving a car around like Back Yard Buddy showed on their website with a Camaro on the lift. NOT! This is what I ended up making after I folded the supplied BP units over. The only parts I reused were the casters.

Yep, they're only for moving an empty lift.. one is bent from the guy I got it from turning the lift 90* after loading his car on it and hitting a floor seam.

My wildfire lift is in transit. Really excited. Researched them all, and wildfire was the only company to return my call. Co owner Brad chatted with me for almost an hour.
I hope I'm not disappointed.

Direct Lift is Chinese....sez so on the label.

Yep.. point? They're almost all made there. Just because Rotary has a facility and headquarters in the USA doesn't mean all their stuff is made there.
