Cross Ram Jetting and Tuning

Hi guys, I am new to the site but been watching for a while.

I was hoping someone can give me guidance on jetting a cross ram.

The engine is a 540 cu. in. with Victor Max Wedge Heads. Compression is 10:1 for pump gas. Cam is 648 lift solid roller. Carbs are 750 Edelbrocks.

Looking for a starting point. Should be putting it on the Dyno within the next month to tune it and see where the numbers come in at.

Also was curious about which jets to change based on burn in different cylinders. I have heard about all kinds of funky jetting for these intakes but hopefully someone can help educate me so we can get it dialed in while on the Dyno.

Thank for any input!

Ohhhh this will be going in my '62 Dodge that I have been restoring for 6 years now and its finally getting close. Hoping to be driving it this summer!

the '62 is my favorite of the B bodies. I built a '62 Dart station wagon changed it from the 4 door- only way mopar made them to a 2 door hardtop wagon and added a 426 hemi SS engine-just because

I had one.

Hi Ernesto
Finally took it out for a test cruise. Starts and runs good and voila my plugs are tan now not a sooty mess. I will get that wideband installed to be able to continue tuning progress. Sincere thanks for all your help and encouragement!!
Nice work JD. I think it would help others if you post your changes and your engine combo...that is unless you're going grudge racing. We both experienced a lack of tuning info on the Hemi cross ram with Holleys.

Dear Ernesto
For sure I will post the current combo (disclaimer: work - in - progress!)
Thanks again for your help and encouragement!

I have a very similar setup on my Hemi crossram except for the IFR is stock do you have any off idle surge and did the IFR CHANGE HELP.

In my application the IFR was a significant factor. I used wire gauges to measure the IFR- my stock ones were significantly larger.
My main objective was to get the car to idle and not flood- which is what I had when I started.

The idle fuel restriction will effect idle and transfer slot fuel on Holley carbs.

Nice going JD. As I posted previously, my set up is very similar. You must be stoked. It's amazing how little info there is on tuning a legendary engine and induction system for the street. Idle Fuel Restriction will also affect rpm into cruise.

Hi Ernesto!
Yes Sir Im stoked and ready to do some cruising and fine tuning. You are also right that the IFR affects cruise transition. I noted that I had to richen my idle mixture screws a slight amount to reduce some stumble / hesitation in the transition to cruise.

I hope this thread that you revived helps others looking for tuning tips and maybe a baseline to start with. The results speak for themselves.
