The return of MAXIMVS...

Love what you're doing. It's where I hope my 63 ends up.

Geez, I'm in Isky parts hell. Now another 2 weeks out and still waiting on the trans.

Glad I'm not waiting on parts!! Just waiting on someone to help lol

Some updates...
  • Starting to go through the electrical - lots of updating to do there
  • Removing the Mallory 140gph pump and 4309 regulator. I will probably keep the mallory billet filter. Keeping the fuel cell in the trunk, I'm going to need the space for the exhaust system
  • Putting in a high capacity mechanical fuel pump and will carry a spare in the trunk if it craps out. Since I'll be street driving this time around, I don't want to take a chance on an electric pump failure. I'll be sending the mallory 140 pump and regulator back to Mallory for rebuild - the pump is seized and the regulator and pump are both 20 years old now. I'll be selling those when I get them back after factory refurb.
  • Hope to get the trans back this next week

Race gas smells good when it's fresh... old race gas, not so much - it reeks and I spilled a bunch all over me :BangHead:. Well, it's out of the system now so it's time for a redone system with pure fuel.

I bet old race gas still smells better than this ethanol lased piss water does when it gets old.....

Geeze, I don't know about that - it was pretty rank and that's coming from an old submariner.

Updates:
  • Dropped off the rusted out driveshaft - the only thing they could reuse was the slip yoke. Should be done in a few days - these guys are fast and good... but NOT cheap.
  • Picked up oil, fluids and filter for initial fire up
  • Isky stuff is scheduled to be delivered here this Friday 3/11 - YAY!
Plan is to button up the long block this weekend/next week and pump fresh oil through the engine on the stand, drain it and then it sould be ready when I get the converter and trans back in the next few weeks. That's the plan anyway, we all know how that goes.

Updates, banner day today:
  • Isky valvetrain kit delivered today
  • Trans is done with little trauma - good news. Low gear set and billet steel A&A drum in great shape, builder found a few issues but cleaned them up
  • Still waiting on PTC for the new converter - unusual for them but should ship next week.
  • Carb rebuild kits are here, will do that chore next week
  • Max Wedge air cleaner set is on the way, will be here next week
  • New driveshaft is done and ready for installation.
  • Recoated ceramic fenderwell headers will be ready next week (http://www.hotshotusa.net/)
  • All the Dana 60 stuff is here and ready for installation.
Shooting for drivetrain fire up in a few weeks.

These EZ Roller lifters are a thing of beauty as well as the billet roller cam... American made and invented is the best IMO. I can't wait to hear the RR-570-T exhaust notes.

So expensive but so much fun... nothing like the sound of a solid cam with a clean exhaust note.

The racer in me rages against time... futile I know but I still will rage until I can no longer run.

Words to live by...

Dylan Thomas...

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

That is all...

Hit a snag on the MW heads... or any mopar BB wedge heads. To use a double spring, we need to do this, see attached Isky doc...

Updates:

  • Correcting the roll cage stuff, lots of cutting and grinding to come
  • Cutting off the motor plate mounts from the front frame rails

Updates:
  • Got the trans back. It is now a thing of beauty, all the good stuff was still intact, A&A steel billet drum and low gear set (2.77:1), bolt-in sprag, A&A RMVB LBA valve body, etc, etc. Output shaft retainer was toast for some reason but Harold (PM me if you are looking for a great trans guy, he's in Fellsmere FL) fixed it and we're good to go. He takes pride in his work, see pics - it's pretty.
  • Sprang for a melonized oil pump drive gear over the bronze gear for my Isky solid roller since I intend on a lot of street use and I don't want to constantly check that part for excessive wear. I called Isky and they said it was OK to run that over the bronze gear drive. A pic below of the Hughes Engine PN# HUG 6213BB. I will sell the Milodon PN# 21525 (new, still in the shrink wrap pack - I'll post that in the classifieds when I get around to it)
  • Looks like another 2 weeks before I get the PTC 9.5" converter.
  • Ground what was left of the crappy halo bar install and installed Rapz covers, looks good and now the S&W roll bar and outriggers are left - I know that's good.
  • Got the rebuild kits for the Edelbrock carbs - will try to get that done this weekend.
  • Plan to install cam this weekend and get it degreed.
  • Special Isky tool is due in this Friday to mill the MW head spring pockets to accept a dual spring, heads to the shop soon after I get the tool.
That's all for now

I trusted Harold with this one year full boat only 1965 727 slip yoke trans. If you know how scarce these are, you'll understand.

I am following this thread and taking notes

Update:
  • Got the Mancini/Crossram Connection MW air cleaner set (CC-120) in today; it's a thing of beauty, perfect as far as I can see. I'll get some pics on the crossram when I get the crossram cleaned up.
