Hawkrod 'RoadKill' Cross Country Trip 2022

I enjoyed Hwy 28 in Wyoming over SouthPass.. This is the "Pass" the mountain men discovered and was a main road on the Oregon trail... Very remote .. All along the way you can see the Lesser known marked sites of the Oregon trail.
I have been north and south of it, but the Guernsey Ruts in eastern Wyoming are on my bucket list... Solid rock carved down by the wagon wheels...
Out of Cheyenne, Wy are remnants of the original Trans Continental rail way... No longer used roads built and a large railway trestle.. amazing what was accomplished.
The black hills area is very touristy, in my opinion... TOO CROWDED
So much to see in the USA.........
Thanks for the sights to see - I have added them to the list! We like historical stuff for sure!

Much appreciated!

Oops. Of course MAY 2nd. (I edited and fixed my post above.)
Shows how messed up I am - my head is thinking about so many things I can't even get the date right! :screwy:

Besides the obvious car repairs, I also need to get a good packing list, make sure it fits in the car, arrange lawn service for cutting the grass at home, think about how to address other important chores, etc. :blah:

I'm cutting this one close for sure...
I know you know....... but just a reminder. Add to the list ,shut the water off.

If you happen down Phoenix way let me know.Illget a lunch crowd together

Of course today is our first 3 digit day so from here on out it will be hot.

Thanks, but my wife and my son will be home, so no need for that. She is flying out later to join me for a few days, but camping is not her thing! My buddy will be in the co-pilot seat for most of this one!

We will almost certainly be there very late May. Sounds like fun! I will add you to my list.

THANK YOU!

Hawk

Update:

Problems with the car and the vibration continue. We have generally decided to push off starting our trip by one day. It will be extremely busy getting stuff ready, and things are developing minute by minute. The trip will happen, but it may be a bit of a shaky start!

Update for today: The vibration has been dramatically improved. We are ON for a departure on Tuesday, May 3rd. As we did in 2015, I will post pictures as we can throughout the trip.

See you all on the road!

Today I finalized some things with the car, checked fluids, and declared the car as ready as it is going to be. The car is still filthy inside and out, so I hope to have some time to at least do a quickie cleaning before we go. But then again, this is RoadKill, so maybe it won't matter so much!!!

I then swapped cars and stuck the 70 up on the lift for its two month hibernation.

Thanks!

Just as long as I don't break wind and peel the paint off the inside of the car! :D:eek:

If you follow National Highway(US40) it'll bring you near Fairborn and Wright Patterson AFB where the National Aviation and Aerospace museum are. Well worth the stop.

Have a great safe trip...

very cool, I hope it all goes well

Safe travels; I'll be following your posts. I'm hoping to catch up with you guys again when you're in CA.

If you pass through that way, let me know as I'd like to meet up and hear stories from your journey. I'm assuming your retired? Or you have a career I need to switch to, lol. I'm excited for you. Can't wait to hear updates.
