I wish there was a Pub in this area. The closest wannabe's cater to the college crowds. Not the real deal.

I rarely drink alcohol anymore especially going out to a bar
in todays reality...
I just go next door usually, have a cocktail
or a few brews once in a blue moon, BS with my buddy Darren
(my dad's 60+ years an alky/in recovery, I can't won't drink in front of him)

I use to frequent a place in Concord, when I lived down there
especially in my 20s-30's Black Bart's Saloon/**** kickers C&W bar
it's down Clayton Rd, almost to Ygnatio Valley
lots of people from Clayton (a small adjacent town) frequented it,
I don't know if it's even still open,
a small place & locals hangout, goat ropers/cowboys

used to frequent & work (as bouncer/doorman) at Saddle Rack
down in San Jose in my later 20's, lots of gash running around, target-rich
I frequented when I was working at & building Target Masters in Milpitas

used to go to another place "Spin o yarn" (IIRC), when I lived in San Jose
up on Sierras dr. up by the Egg Farm
Go to the outskirt of Milpitas toward Freemont, a tall blonde bartender lady
was my main reason, she was fun,
a bunch of US from Target Masters would go there

C&W bar, dancing, a place down by the bay called Denim & Diamonds,
before it went/turned "Yuppie" back in the later 80's

used to go to a place on like Main St. or B-street (?) Hayward
had great fish/fried rock shrimp & dark beer, after work
can't remember the name, I'm having a senior moment :poke:
I probably drank too much when younger

'The Pines Club' (?) in Anchorage Alaska 1984-86-ish
on Lake Ottis or Northern Lights (IIRC),
across from the Apt complex I ran
It was a lively loud fun place, live music & boxing from locals, loose women
a truly tough crowd, literally, you had better know how to hold your own
in more than one way
or you wouldn't last very long

When I was 17 I was able to drink in most bars. I looked a little older and in 1973 things weren't so strict on IDs. Drinking age was 18. The popular bar (hole-in-the-wall type) was called The Sidecar. It was very near the train station. It's where I learned to shoot pool. It was scary because it was full of older kids but I screwed up my courage. I was a popular kid in high school. Although I was the typical bad boy. I dated the prettiest girl and was senior class president. But I learned a lot of life lessons at that bar. It was run by an older guy and his son was one year older than me. The kid took over and still runs the bar. If I go back to my hometown, about every 10 years for reunions that's the place to catch up on all the happenings. It looks exactly the same and reminds me of how scared I was trying to be cool.

I drink at my kitchen table or family room. I just purchased bottle #398 today so I have a pretty good selection. Mostly bourbon and ryes but a few top shelf Canadian blends, some Irish, and a few lower dollar Scotches. Oh and a few barrel pick tequilas as well.

If you've ever watched The Outsiders that was pretty much my life with Dally and Cherry. It took place in Tulsa which was very near where I lived. I even knew a Pony Boy type kid who stabbed another kid but he didn't die. He said once you penetrate the skin the insides are just like spaghetti. I always remembered that. His brother got stabbed too and he didn't die. He said he just thought he got punched but as he chased the perpetrator his legs just gave out. It's a good movie if you haven't seen it. Just change the year from 1967 to 1973.

It's kind of a who's who of future movie stars.

In WI you go to supper clubs if you want food and drinks. Sure there are some pub types too, some lean more towards a bar with a big menu lol.
Supper clubs are basically everywhere yet, but a lot of them focus very much on the bar part, and expect you to sit for an hour there before you get seated to eat. I don't go to those. They make their money on the booze, and usually the food suffers for it. You never know until you try one though.
The best ones are in the middle of nowhere. Mind you, I live here where most people think it is BFE, and I think they are middle of nowhere. You have to know about them, know where they are. Directions are about impossible, and GPS is not filled in all the way for some of them.
Anywhere outside of metro WI you can drive on some country trunk road past 3000 acres of hay fields and suddenly on the corner will be a bar sign(probably Old Style) hanging on a light post with 20 cars parked outside the old building. That is how you identify the good ones.

I think you have a problem Mike! Too many bottles and not enough people to help drink them, what's your address??? :luvplace:

I frequented Steve's Cabana bar in Chula Vista Ca. If I/we needed to do laundry it was Terry's Crews inn in National City Ca. (Laundry mat right next door).
Rich's Pub when I moved back to Pittsburgh area, these were all a different lifetime ago.

Basically, I don't drink anymore. I didn't mean to quit just fell out of the habit. It tastes so terrible now I can barely finish one beer.

Nothing wrong with that, it's good.
Just don't be surprised if no one trusts you anymore

Once I got out of law school, I stopped hanging out in bars (I was a lush in those days.) Until I started climbing the corporate ladder in the 90s. The Gamble Mill Inn, located in Bellefonte, PA, was the ritziest pub in the area, with an high end restaurant upstairs, was the watering hole of choice when the corporate guys made a terminal visit, or my boss had reason to get us liquored up. The food was outstanding, the drinks were cheap and strong, but the joint's top draw was Andi, the drop dead beautiful blonde who ran the bar. She had an amazing talent for managing drunk patrons, and keeping the register full.

In later years, I was the corporate guy bringing the local slobs to the place, and I tried to maintain a higher level of decorum than my predecessors. Fast forward to today, and Andi currently owns one of the most successful joints in the area. She remembered me from back in the day when I patronized the place with my wife for the first time, and her establishment is entrenched as our go to for special celebrations. The Hublersburg Inn, located off the Lamar exit on I-80, if you are ever passing through central PA.

The drinking age in my state was lowered from 21 to 18 – when I turned 18. Getting boozed up was the thing. Even at the machine shop I worked at we would get a case or two of beer after work (often the boss would hand me the cash, like five bucks, and I’d hop in the company truck to go to the beer depot turning in the empties). On holidays working until noon, we drank beer while operating the machines. We had a local bar where we would congregate and drink more! Joined the bar’s pool league and had our matches at other bars and – drank more there. Then the two bowling leagues I was on…yep, drank more there.

It wasn’t over yet. After college (yeah drinking there) eventually got a position where a lot of biz entertainment was involved, golf outings at least twice a week during the summer months. Gorgeous gals running the drink carts in mini-bikinis cuz they knew the less they were clothed the more tips they got. Some guys were plastered by the 12th hole. Then the fine dinners after and – yep more free booze. And the company I was with loved any possible occasion to have a drink-fest office party…and most of the employees were younger females.

When we built our house in the sticks, there was a local dumpy gin mill where I spent too much time. Owner knew me well and took good…ahh care of me. It was too convenient. Haven’t been in a bar other than for meals in maybe five years now. I’ll maybe have 3 or 4 beers a week.

Oh my GOD, as I think back on all of this…WTH! So LUCKY I was never snagged for drunk driving, came very close once. I have good reason to thank – God.

Cr8crshr's Bar and Grill!!! Best food and awesome libations. Besides, it doesn't cost me a whole lot of $$$ either!!! cr8crshr/Bill:drinks::drinks::drinks::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Haven't frequented a bar for a long time. The couple times a year I drink, are generally outta town with friends at car-events. Then, it's tequila.
