Just remembering the 70’s….

Growing up in the Chicagoland area in the 70’s winters we used to skitch behind cars with unwitting drivers. Was a lot of fun. Reminded me of the Cheech and Chong skit called “Ralph and Herby”………

Kids today are either too smart to do this or too busy on their phones. Life was good back then!

We used to skitch (born and bred Chicagoan) on the hood of a VW bug. Good times.

We didn't call it skitching, we called it hooky-bob. I held the land speed record for hooky-bobbing at 60 mph on my buddy's 64 Sport Fury, but it was unofficial since I moved up from the rear bumper and had my left arm hooked on the open passenger window and the other hand on the rearview mirror. Yep, I lived.

no idea what you guys are talking about
…..bread truck finishes delivering to a mom pop grocery store on a side street, there’s fresh snow on the street , you hide behind the truck so he can’t see you , he starts driving to the next store and you’re gripping onto the bumper going for a free ride.

Without skies. Just boots. We graduated to skiing and ropes after we got our licenses.

Full circle back to why the mirror holes are pulled out lol

Don't forget the look on your face when going around a corner...

It was even better than that. David was a crazed gearhead from Alaska and he welded up the spider gears on his built 440 Fury. He'd wag his tail everywhere he went, snow or not. When I was on the side it alternated between him pushing me and then pulling me.

Agaaggaa but we hung on the bumpers because we didn’t have licenses or knew anybody that would let use do it. That was part of the fun! But yes definitely would cause those mirror dimples lol

Just west of Berwyn lol Svengooly town. Worked in Downers Grove at Rockwell for a time. Dated a flight attendant from Delta in Villa Park. Born in the city and kept moving North right to the Wisconsin line before I finally left the area.
