Hi Dennis Here, looking to find out if anyone has run into the same problem I did on Friday, well anyway my 400-500 low deck stroker is all buttoned up, inside my 73 runner 4 speed, ready to break in the cam, got it running in pretty short time. proform 850 carb suppodedly set from the shoppe. TTI ceramic coated headers(yes I know your not supposed to run new headers on first start up) but I did, after about 8 min of running @ 1500-2000 rpms headers began to glow (really hot) engine temp very good, also running eddy heads with all new 440 source internals. Well we started it up again to proceed with cam break in,in another 10 min or so we shut it down, Engine ran like a bear very responsive, seems like we got the timing zerode in . We proceeded to lift the car up to do general check we had small water pump leak, no big deal . Also rear main seal leaking real bad!! we could see by dropping bell inspection cover, seal was put in correctly. Milidon 7 quart pan center sump. all studded (caus I didn't want any leaks) anyway instead of pulling engine back out (we installed from the bottom with k fame and all, does anyone know if we can loosen motor mounts and lift engine up enough to slide pan out of the way so we can change the seal? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dennis

Don't know about a 73' but on my 65 Coronet I had to drop steering linkage to get the pan off. I didn't lift engine but would have been easier that way. I took out the front studs instead.
