So I bailed out of CA for the rest of the week along with my Crew Chief, 69a100, to check out Reno NV as a possible place to relocate to. Be up here till Sat. checking it out. I am finding that it is a very doable place to get out from under the BS and Politics of CA. So...Quick question...I know all about the Hot August Nights venue, but as far as the MOPAR crowd goes, who, what, where, etc.? Any FBBO members up there? MOPAR friendly business? I hit Summit Racing this afternoon for some items so saved a bunch on shipping/handling. All else so far hits my expectation....cr8crshr/Tuck:headbang:

Unfortunately Hairy Ried is the Senator, maybe you could help to vote him out too... My brother Dr. Mark lives there, he raised a couple kids there & I have a couple of old racing partners Rob & Dee C. live near Reno, they moved from Sacto. area, they also say they really like it there, mostly because of the desert & off-roading & shooting/open outdoor activities thou... I have considered moving there myself, maybe after ol' Pops is gone, I will too... Sorry Tuck, I don't actually know of any Mopar specific clubs or activities thou... Good luck, I hope you find nirvana... I'll miss ya, your a good/decent fellow Californian, not one of those other types, too bad we couldn't keep Calif., like it was before, have them all move instead, like before when it became a damn Nanny State, overrun with all the damn Political BS & taxes, we all have here now... It use to be the best place to live, best weather, best people, "7 wonders of the world", all in one state etc., not anymore, only the weather & wonders are still here now... Born & Raised California Native 1959-present...

Hot August Nights. I go every year. One Mopar for every thousand Chevy's. Downtown homeless community looks to exceed San Jose. And that is a lot. Reno is OK, but I prefer Carson City. Cool nearby town called Dayton. Check out the museum there.

When you went into Summit did they have a lot of parts for Mopars on the shelves? If they did then that's a good indicator of many Mopars in the area. I lived there in the late 80's and I loved it but I'm a Michigan man and love it here more.

As far as Summit's MOPAR parts on the shelves, there wasn't any that I needed. I use Summit for a number of items on my 66 Plymouth Satellite. I didn't restore it...I built it so there are parts most wouldn't use on it. I did see a few MOPARS parked in my house searching yesterday. I am a born and raised Chicagoan and will never go back to the Mid West. Michigan being a part too. Just too damn cold and well...if you cannot say something nice then keep the mouth shut. Just not a fan of either State but a DIE HARD BIG 10 Fan....Go Cats....

i took a look at reno before i moved to vegas.not a fan of snow,so chose vegas.turned out to be a great choice.world class motor sport venue was built a few years after i moved.las vegas motor speedway has 11 diff tracks.i try to get out to hot augaust nights each year but only seems to happen about 1 in three.couldnt find much car cuture up there besides the big show,2nd reason i moved to vegas.
dont worry budnicks, harry reid is retiring after this term.

Did you visit Sparks NV?
Real close and perhaps a little less costly.

Plus I watch that TV show about the Reno cops...they are too weird! LOL

Who knows, in 5 yrs I may join you!

As 67 coronet can attest, LV also has LOTS to offer.

N. Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin.

No state income taxes either that will save some money... But winters are cold, in Reno, eastern Sierra's Weather exposure, it's kind of high desert weather, it wont be like "by the Bay here in sunny Calif.", all thou were your at allot of fog & marine layer helps cool the bay area off some, more than the valley or foothills anyway... they do have slightly longer winters, it gets hot in the summer & they do get an occasional snow 1/2 a dozen time a year or more, occasional flood, plenty of easterly wind too... If you don't mind that, it's still probably well worth the move...

Thanks all. As I mentioned in my first post, the trip is just purely exploratory in nature. Plus I had to check out the Cabella's store up there as CA will not allow them most likely into the state. Been to a number of their stores and they are one of my favorite. You might have guessed that I am also besides a MOPAR guy a Guns guy and NV sure is friendly. When I was in FL for a couple of years I enjoyed the fact that I could obtain a CC where in CA it is next impossible. NV has very attractive laws regarding guns and ammo. Checked out Sparks but there wasn't much that appealed to me in housing, Carson City would be cool but again they didn't have much to look at. I can deal with the weather as I was born in raised in Chicago and when it comes to cold and snow, nothing fazes me. I like the fact that you can receive the 4 seasons here which is somewhat comforting when it is cold and snowing and you have a roaring fire going, and snow capped mountains. In fact they got a real good dusting yesterday from the storm that came through. Rain in the valley but if you live in Northern Ca, you get rain too. so it is all relative really. Today checked out property over in the Northeastern section in a place called University Hills. Great views overlooking the city and the mountains in the distance. Finally part of the reason I am only checking it out is I will still have to come over the hill and down to the Sacramento area for personal things so really it is no difference than CA. Many similarities but "FREEER".....cr8crshr/Tuck

Reno area is nice, I go there several times a year already now... good luck with your choices cr8crshr... It's too bad Calif. has gone the way it has lately, last 20 years, we keep losing good people like you... Pretty soon it will be only the takers/freeloaders, gangs, gays, homeless or inner-city coastal Nanny Staters & the largely illegals anyway, the way we're going currently &/or bankrupt... As a Calif. Native, that has lived here or maintained residency, almost all of my life, I'm truly ashamed of my state now & what it's now becoming... What a damn shame it "use to be", the best place to live, period... I hope you will like living more freely in Nevada...

Wow. You hate it so much here. You should pack up and leave too.

Good for you, cr8crshr. If this state is treating you poorly, find a place that suits you. That's the great thing about the USA, so many options for lifestyles. I would probably leave myself if I didn't run the family business in CA. OR is more my speed than NV. Have you checked out Medford? Every time I drive through there, weather is nice, people are cool. Good luck in your quest.

Pabster...I have you blocked most of the time out of respect for the other members on FBBO. I want to spare them from my rhetoric when having to respond to your profundity. However, I am making an exception to my own rules on this topic just this one time...First off just for the record, I am not a CA native. I am a transplant from Chicago Illinois. Budnicks...who happens to be my friend...is a CA native. For you to throw out that statement and low blow, just further exemplifies just what a Liberal turd you really are. For the life of my I will never be able to fathom how someone as inept and stupid as you has any friends. I suppose you do though but you sure do not ingratiate yourself to most here on FBBO. This was a nice and easy, friendly post about what my future thoughts were leading me towards. Possibly relocating to a more favorable location. A change of scenery. A new adventure. I asked for a little input from those who might be in the know. Instead what I got was you slamming a like minded friend because he shares the same concerns that a lot of CA natives and residents do. That is, that this State is rapidly sinking into a bottomless pit that is fast becoming full of Liberal Left Progressive thinking fools with little or no way of every regaining its once great status. Simple examples are the Illegals getting drivers Licenses, Illegals being able to serve on a jury, etc. Now tell me in all honesty Pabster...Do you really want some one that is not a "Peer" or Citizen of Ca, deciding the fate of a Legal CA Citizen? I believe the term is "a Jury of ones Peers", etc. An Illegal is not my "Peer." Oh and just so you know, there is no term such as "undocumented" when it comes to these Illegals. They are exactly what they are...Illegal. But I am digressing here. Just you pissed me off by your remark to Budnicks.

I have been to OR many a time. Not my cup of tea either. Way too Liberal for my taste as well. Hell you cannot even pump your own gas in the State. What kind of crap is that. Medford didn't float my boat either. Spent time in Eugene. Typical Liberal Collage town. Cost of living is mostly the same as CA. Now if it were the State of Jefferson, then I might re-consider. But OR and Washington for that matter do not get me excited. You are right that there are so many options one has when it comes to where one hangs their hat and calls home. Just that as the State and the Country slips into the abyss of total self destruction, I want to remain forever free from it. If that means Reno then so be it. Or even Costa Rica for that matter...You are now blocked

I never even see or read any of his lame posts, unless someone shows them in quotes... He really loves to hate on me...LOL... I just don't even care about him or any of his lies, beliefs or rhetoric... I have him along with 3 others on my ignore list, have for quite a while now... IMHFO anymore they aren't worth the effort, grief, aggravation, instigation, racism quotes or hatred they spread or try to provoke others into here.... they don't usually even have anything good ever to contributed to the site {well one of them actually knows a little, but I can't stand the guy either}... thanks friend for having my back cr8crshr... He's really not worth any of the grief thou, I would suggest that others, that feel the same, just put him on ignore also... It's truly a great feature here, make your experience much more enjoyable, not to having to read or see any of their negative type, race baiting, argumentative/fight provoking, instigators, liberal political views or posts.... you all have a nice day now

I too am looking into retiring in NV. It doesn't really snow Past Dayton , I'm looking in to an area called Stagecoach. or Silver Springs. There's a home in Yerington that has a huge shop for sale. But I'm looking for something without Propane.
