I will be buying a exhaust system for my 69 Sat 383. The car came with a single exhaust and thats whats going back. Waldron has them and I've see ads for Classic exhaust. Anyone have any thoughts on whose a good place to deal with------Thanks

Sorry Steve I can be of no help here as I use local privately owned business that will custom build what ever I want and still guarantee their work.

Whatever you do, don't get Flowmaster mufflers. Either Hemi mufflers or, for a little more sound, Dynomax.

I run the Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers and love them now my car is built but its still more tone down than when i had BLOWMASTERS sorry i hate those noise makers...

Here is a Video of my car running with the Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers.

x2 Dynomax!

Hey Steve-o, have you considered going to duals? lots of benefits...

DynoMax Superturbos here. Behind the QTP's (w/Bully megaphones) that are behind the TTI's. No drone, noise on-demand.

I can't believe I'm actually "attempting" educating or helping you

If it's just a stock rebuild restoration either
Accurate Exhaust {Mopar Specialists}
http://www.accurateltd.com/What-did-the-factory-exhaust-look-like_ep_40.html
or TTI Exhaust are direct bolt-ins
http://www.ttiexhaust.com/Category-ClassicExhaust/ComponentParts.htm#ep

both are in the upper price range but both are guaranteed
& both will fit very well & represent the OE stuff the best

I actually like the Flowmaster stuff, I've had great luck with it,
but my cars aren't stock either & I like the sounds/exhaust note
I use the Delta 50's & mandrel bent pipes but I'm making enough HP
to justify using the larger mandrel bent tubing & a performance scavenger mufflers...

Where most go wrong is, don't go too big of pipe,
especially if it's a stock 383ci, 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" tubing is plenty big,
even on a 440ci unless your making well over 450HP-500hp
also use a H-Pipe or X-Pipe & you won't have the resonance/drone issues...

Pypes Race Pro's here..Forgive the rattle, its the heat riser that came loose from being wired permanently open. :)

I like my Flowmasters. The ones on my car are almost 20 years old and still look and sound like new. Can't say that about any mufflers with fiberglass matting.

I really like my tti 2-1/2" complete stainless steel X-pipe dual exhaust system from manifolds to the tips.

Others have told me to put dual exhaust, however i don't want a loud car. Now as Bud said i should use a "H" pipe so who is a good place to buy a complete exhaust system from that will bolt up to stock non HP manifolds?

Dual exhaust does not make a loud car. Let it breathe. Duals.

Steve, being a welder that you are, I would think you might want to build your own. I haven't done all my research yet but I noticed Summit had pieces you can buy to build your own. They were kits for specific cars. Maybe someone else on here can elaborate.

Budnicks,

Accurate WAS the best that there was at one time. Even they had issues when I installed their system on my Charger (no weap holes in the mufflers which caused the baffles to internally rust out and start rattling) and the exhaust on our Challenger had to be "modified" to clear the torsion bar on the driver side. We ended up going with the ECS factory exact repro exhaust system on our challenger now and had to make no modifications at all to it. No only does it sound better but it has the Pentastar and other original characteristics that the Accurate system is lacking. Feel free to check out the thread I did on the comparison the two.
