My engine builder ran my new motor on his Dyno last nite.
I attached the Dyno Pull Chart to this Thread.
Engine Specs to compare your motor to if you havent had your motor on the Dyno:
505" 4.150 Stroke/4.350 Bore
Pistons .010 in the hole/.039 gaskets/73cc heads makes .049 Quench and 11.9-1 C.R.
850CFM Mighty Demon
INDY Dual Plane Intake (NON-Max wedge size)
INDY SEZ heads (NON-Max wedge size)
Hooker Super Comp Headers 1 7/8 tubes/3" collectors
Solid Flat Tappet Engle Cam w/1.6 rockers makes .628 Int Lift, .649 Exh Lift, Duration-Int 272, Exh 282, Lobe Center 108
34 degree total Timing/MSD Dist/6AL Box
91 Octane Pump Gas Scan0005.jpg

599HP @5700RPM
602HP @5800RPM
601HP @5900RPM
600HP @6000RPM

540LBS Torque @3100RPM
560LBS Torque @4000RPM
580LBS Torque @4800RPM
570LBS Torque @5000RPM

My Engine Builder wanted to put together a Motor with a really FLAT Torque Curve that would launch my 3600lb Coronet hard...and he did...540LBS of Torque at only 3100RPM

Shift Point at 6100 was the goal and he made that goal...600HP at 6000RPM

Did it all with 91 Octane Pump Gas at 34 degree timing.

Putting Motor in car this coming weekend.
Hopefully it will go 10.50-10.70 at around 124 to 128mph.

Lenny at Ultimate Converter in North Carolina just got my Torque readings off the Dyno Chart and he is matching my Converter to perform exactly to my Torque Readings....

Will report my ET's, etc after my next race is the Mega-Mopar Race at Famoso Raceway (Bakersfield, CA) on June 27/28th

Thanks for sharing!!! i did not dyno my 512 but hope to go to the track soon & that will tell.

keep us posted.

Looks good. Wonder how it would react to a 2 inch primary tube header.

My engine builder told me he wanted lots of torque "down low" which he accomplished. Larger 2" headers, Max Wedge Ports on the heads and Intake Manifold and a single plane intake would have made more horse power but it would also have moved the entire Torque band "up" the curve.

He wanted lots of torque down low which he got (540LBS at only 3100RPM) to "launch" my 3600 lb boat and get strong 60' times, which will be the real key to trying to get to mid 10 second ET's. Hoping to get 1.4 to 1.5 second 60 foot times which will result in close to the mid-10 second ET's.

I should have enuf traction I need with my narrowed rear end sporting 11.25" wide (28x13.50x15) M/T slicks, Cal Trac 9 way adj rear shocks, Cal Trac Mono Leaf Rear Springs and Cal Trac 90/10 front shocks. 4.10 Detroit Locker diff. and Moser axles.

I do not yet know how Lenny is building my Torque Converter on Monday, but he is building it to perfectly match the Torque Curve on the Dyno chart that I emailed Him.

If I am dying for lower ET's (more horsepower) my engine builder told me to move the timing up from 34 to around 37 and run 110 VP race gas rather than the 34 degrees and Pump Gas.

Damn all that and still using a flat tappet cam. Wowsa. I am impressed

Great #'s looks like it will be fun, won't have to spin it too the moon either

congrats

Very nice numbers ! My eng is close to that but you have more comp (I am at 10.6) and a larger flat tappet cam then I use. You should meet your goals as my 63 weighs just over 3700 with me in it and I race through the full exh system. You may hit 10.50's but I see easy 10.70's and better. I also just use SS springs so with your Cal Tracs you should 60 better then mine as my best 60 is a 1.50. Good luck with that beast. Ron

Ron, Thanks for your comments. I always used your car as a benchmark as to what my new motor should make my car run. I sure hope it 60 foots in the low 1.50's and 1320 at around 10.60 and 125-126. My home track as Famoso (Bakersfield, CA) always has "bad air" with adjusted altitudes of 2700-2900 feet because of high temps, bad humidity and barometric pressure for racing.
I will find out with my 2 upcoming races....June 20/21 with the ANRA Race (American Nostalgia Racing Association) and June 27/28 with the Mega-Mopar Association Race.

Could you share all the specs for that cam & part #? Keep us posted!!!

Mike,
Nice build, and a super flat torque curve!

A couple of ?'s:
It's my understanding that anything over 11:1 with alum heads risks detonation and engine damage. How safe is 11.9-1 compression on 91 pump gas?
In your opinion is having all that torque at 3100 rpm self defeating? I imagine your torque converter will flash to a higher rpm right?
Do you think "future" 2" headers will reduce your e.t.s?

Again, great build, great motor, and awesome numbers. I'm sure your exited for late June!

My engine builder assures me that with only 34 degrees total timing that the CR with pump gas is OK.

Lenny, at Ultimate Converter, in North Carolina has my converter right now and is matching my converter to the torque curve...and then he will ship it to me.

My engine builder wanted me to stay with 1 7/8 headers, Non Max Wedge size ports on the heads and intake for the purpose of the huge 3100RPM torque and flat curve to launch my 3600 lb coronet.

Just curious why you didn't use a roller cam setup what you got is awesome i would be very happy with it.. I am just asking thanks.

Hemi Rebel,
that is what I was thinking . 2" headers with 3 1/2" collector should be worth more power TQ loss maybe a little but not enough to hurt
definitely making plenty of steam .
you may find with the TQ a little softer it may launch easier , though with running a rag tyre you should have no problems

Tex

I didnt use a roller cam because I was out of money.....I am saving up for a Dana.

Take it to the track man!

June 20/21 and June 27/28 will be at track (Famoso) both weekends. Will report the results. Thanks, Mike

you will be able to go 10.50 with ease, my friend has a similar cam, with stock stroke 440, Indy EZ heads, 12.1 and a 1050 carb.

a month ago here in socal he was running 10.53s
