we fell into a deal that we couldn't ignore.

it's a been a while since we shined up this old bronze bird.....

she's gone on down the road....

And we miss having a B Body.

I've got a build sheet laying on my desk that I pulled out of a $1500 69 charger today....

It might be a while before I can get to it. But wow it's exciting to think about.

Sweet bird - are you selling the bird to buy a charger? Not sure of what you mean in the post....

Dave,

I cannot wait to see the 69 charger build. I hope business has been treating you well. Let's hear some build plans on the charger...

sorry i was pretty vague. The last build thread I did here was the 69 road runner pictured above. that car isn't mine any more, the original owner of that car has the car again after 40 years apart from it. (long story, good one tho)

I do miss having a 68-70 B body, miss it terribly.

We fell into a deal on a shabby 69 charger. we bought it, now we have to plan a build.

This one is missing the original 2 barrel 383, its got a blown up mid 70's 400 in it. I'm thinking a stroked 440, does anyone here use the blueprint engines 493? I see them in jegs and summit.

Either way, the recipe will be 500 hp or greater. We also got a 440 6 pack intake and carbs with the car.

I might use that but I was kind of thinking EFI on this one. Trans undecided, originally a 727 car.

Thinking middle of the road resto mod, beings the numbers game is already scrambled with the orig engine missing.

thanks for the well wishes. the business is busy, which is good I suppose.

But it is also why it may be a while before I can rage on this charger project. lol!

wanna sell that 6 pack :)

I wouldn't buy a crate engine, no fun at all, find a block and heads, get all the parts, and hand it to a good builder, it will save you some money and you know exactly what you got. I had a stroker built.
Eagle stroker rotating assembly $2050
Eddy aluminum heads $1180
71 440 BlocK $300 for the core $450 for clean, mag, bore, hone.
$180 to rip the eddy heads apart, do a valve job and reassemble them
$500 for the gaskets, bearings, plugs, bolts, pumps, timing set, cam, lifters, etc
$1000 for the carb, intake, valve covers, etc
$500 to build it
should be around $6000 but super nice, I notice the crate engines and the factory remans, are all junky blocks, no webbing, etc. You want a nice 69 block to build, I wish you were closer, there is a 69 complete running 440 for $1000, steel crank motor, needs rebuild but you can hear it run, for sale...
good luck on the build, post some pics of that "shabby" girl...

I'll have to agree with Seventy, I love the thrill of the hunt to try and find a block to build with. It is getting more challenging though, everyone with a 440 block thinks it's made of gold. They are still out there and then you can build it anyway you want, with the guts and machine work you want. Very cool, need pics!

Can't wait to see how it goes, was going to suggest this Hemi from Summit. Found it while going through their sale items section then while fetching the ad noticed it now says not available, it was listed at $16329.00 Was about to pull out my checkbook dam it! But a big ole Hemi would be a cool fit in that charger :)

thanks for the input guys.

the biggest problem I have with this car is the fact that my 18 yr old son thinks it his car. lol!

He did find the car and broker the deal I guess.....

We will figure that stuff out later. maybe we will build a resto mod charger together, sell it and move on to another, so on and so forth until we both have enough cash to own a pair of B bodies for ourselves. lol!

Hi Dave its been awhile sounds like a nice new project coming ,how's the doing .

we're doing good snake eyes.

I keep 3 projects active at once. Currently it's a 69 mustang mach 1 (huge job), a 1966 chev 2 door caprice (nice car) and a 1971 camaro from cali. That's a pretty solid car too.

In the waiting line we have a 69 ranchero, another 69 Mach 1 and a 1958 plymouth (same as the christine movie car)

those are the ones on the property currently. More waiting their turn to get here.

We busy.

lol.

how did your past projects go any photos to bring us up to snuff?

no recent mopars, but the most recent was this old pickup truck for my oldest boy.

Everything else is in various stages of chaos. :)

I'll post joe dirt 2.0 (charger) later today. I have some guys coming this morning to buy a 51 shoebox ford, then we will go get the charger.

Sounds like a great project, you'll enjoy the build allot more being able to build it your own way woth no worries. I will say the best money i spent on my ride was a T56 6 speed, I now have no concerns about driving 1,000+ miles and get 19mpg doing it with a 456 stroker. Enjoy

Man I love those old Fords, I used to have 1979 F350 dually with a 460 (got sideways pretty easily) that was a fun truck.

looks like he did not fall far from the tree!

Yes, it had allot of rust needing .060 over to clean it up otherwise it would be the typical 451. Fairly cheap to build and runs like crazy for the money.

Nice to see you back on here Dave,
Holy frig I love that truck......lucky little bastrd

Sweet! I don't what's more exciting, bringing them home or finishing them?
