we went and looked at a nice 2 door 6 cylinder car this weekend, the body was Really good, and the seller said hed brought it up from south carolina 2 years before, after his brother passed away.
the car ran somewhat,it really needs some work there but no biggie.

we looked at the trunk, engine bay,and under the car really good, and then i started peeling back the carpet, only to see Cockaroaches running for cover!!

.03 milliseconds later, outside the car about ten feet away from the door,
we told the owner what was up.
at first,he thought we were joking, but, roaches are no joke.
then i went back in the car peeled it back tapped and we both saw a big fatty run by.

so..at this point, the owners a little freaked out, because hes got a roach motel outside his garage, and im wondering if its even humanly possible to exterminate the vermin successfully....?

or is this a lost cause?
thanks in advance for any advice or help.

No roach would stop me from buying a car, I would however gut the interior before bringing it home. Once it's all metal there's no comfort for them, I'd pitch the carpet and bag up the seats and set off a bug bomb in it?

X2 No roach would stop me from buying car that i wanted, but good buying power if you ask me, they sell roach bomb, then Take out the power washer and clean up the mess

roaches... bomb it now a palmetto bug that's a real roach.

I bought a 74 Duster that I called "The Roach". I seem to be a glutton for punishment.

so nobodies really had to actually deal with one of these situations then?

this is a 2 door we are trying to save here,
tis sad that some of you think this is the forum for jokes when someone asks for help.

as for the cockroaches,if you had any experience at all w them,
youd know they are terrible to deal with.
they will hide in every tiny fold of metal, cloth,or plastic they can inside a car.
i threw away a 70 duster back in the 90-s because it was infested.
i only asked now,
because i thought perhaps some of you from down south might have come up with better ways to save the cars now then there was back then.

but hey..roach traps...and bug bombs..great advice...thanks.

i will say thanks to mopar B tho,it did seem he knew what was up.
Call an exterminator if need be just do not take them little suckers home alive.
exactly, and the owners a bit frenzied now,and wants to junk the car.
i estimate i have 2 weeks to d-day to come up with some form of workable solution.
ive researched all the borax/and remedies and poisons as well,
and the exterminator says he cannot guarantee his work.......

This thread has a strange title.

The only real concern would be the female roaches and, more importantly, her eggs.
Lots of places to lay them in a car. Short of completely gutting the car and dipping it?
I dunno.

This thread has a strange title.
no stranger than some of the political rants id wager..
and i chose it to hopefully avoid the stupid roach jokes......alas,not to be.

ty for your Reply Lionized,it does seem like this is a lost cause.
sucks, this car had a great body and excellent interior/of course.
soon itll be a pepsi can.

I would suggest a product called "TEMPO" you can get it at most Farmers CO-OP 's. Had an issue at my Mom's house - treated 2X has been several years since we have seen anything. Sells for about $55 for a bottle, mixes with water and can make a gallon at a time. The exterminator said it was better stuff than he was using.

If you want the car buy 2 boxs of foggers, the ones that smoke not spray. Lift the carpet pop the door panels and put 2 in the trunk 2 inside and 2 under the hood. Then when you get it home take the interior out and wash it out. Rock auto has great prices on new carpet. I put one In My car. When I was in Corpus Christi there was a swarm of roaches that came out of nowhere one night and they were on the trees on the house and cars. I had to fog the house and cars and it worked for me. Good luck!

Well since we're being serious. Don't bring it anywhere near your home . I drug a car out of the woods loaded it up never noticed any movement maybe a bug or two no big deal
But I still bomb it (In my garage) (yes I know beginners f up ) anyways I woke up to my wife screaming sounded like someone was making here do dishes. There was a huge brown recluse sitting on her oven . After I killed it I went back to bed ,after awhile I finally made it out to the car and there was 10-20 huge spiders everywhere it took me weeks to get them all luckily I was better I got them all they couldn't touch this .

Roll the windows up and set a couple of open cans

of gasoline in it for a few days...the fumes will kill them

Make sure that you unhook the battery first though...

okay, somethings wrong with the quote function??

also ty to those who pmed me too.
its given me a sense of hope, and im going to try to save this car.

anyways I woke up to my wife screaming sounded like someone was making her do dishes.
i feel your pain there,lol!

Go to a paint store and get a bunny suit, and tape the sleeves and legs up so they can't get in anywhere.

Being from SC, if they are big they are probability Palmetto bugs! That's just a supped up roach I think.
