Time to hit the Track.

malex, your launch looked good you and mike look very much the same. sure wish you had one of those camera to show the launch from underneath. you have done a lot of good with your ride and i'll bet with the weather changing your number is closer than you think. how stiff do you have the rear shocks now?

I have QA1 dble adjustables all the way around. They have 18 adjustment notches for both the rebound and compression.
Rears: 18R, 12C. Fronts: 7R, 16C. Leaving at 3000 on the brake. If I turn up the rpm the shocks won’t control the rear separation and back to doing leap frog.
It’s too late in the season to send the shocks away for revalving now so I’m running it this way for the remainder of the year. I hope to get some good air next time out and I’m really hoping it will hook so that I can get a NPBest.

Hey Bob. No Sir. My next raceday is Sept 8/9. The last one this year. But I’m ready.
Today I’m heading to your great Country. Bringing the rest of the Dart home.
There was some racing at another track a few hours west on the weekend. That ended up a rain out. I’ll start traveling once I get the car consistent.
I’m actually going to a ladder bar. The car is at that point. The Calvert set up will go under the Dart.
Making the decision to go ladders made sense. I was going to have to buy good shocks so they might as well be coil overs.

We ran this weekend. Talk about weather swing. D/A from 2828 to 3996 same day. Trying to stay on the 9.25 index, tough. We had a pretty good handle on it. Moving the throttle bolt between 0 and 10 turns out and shifting 0-100 lbs ballast. First round was great, .017, 9.256. Going in to rd 2 5 passes all within .02, worst R/T .022. Then, you guessed it, .004 red. On the good side 60 ft at with-in .009.

Amazingly consistent low lights. And that red sure hurts.. Saw your car on an advertisement for a track Doug. They know who will bring the crowds.

And the Dart is home, got lots to keep me active this winter, but not before the Plymouth gets it's rear suspension upgrades.

Had to whip the front end around to point it towards the trailer. 3 of 4 tires leaked air faster than they could be filled.

I bought the old Dart less motor/trans. I set it right back down in the same spot as when it was in the car. The fellow laughed, said he's gonna phone the mayor and report the car body as vanished. Small town humor. Love it.

The Dart now sits and waits for awhile now.

For quick reaction times, which is a major part of winning a race, it is just hard to beat ladder bars and wide slicks.
Now is you could only make your car weight under 3000 lbs...lol
AND THAT IS A FACT.

3000 is not possible, especially once I get that steel hood back on.

3000 is possible, but expensive.

Yes 3000 lbs is possible, but in this case it was never my plan to have my car weigh under 3000 lbs. It's built to legally run 10.0 it runs 10.1's at 3440 in the heat now. No diet needed.

3000 lbs isn't in my price range either. 10.0 actually makes sense. No license, chassis cert, etc. Personnaly I've raced stuff all the way up to 15 second range. Always had fun no matter the ET.

Yes to get under that weight and still have the car look like ours, definitely a lot of $$$. And for me to get there I've have to disect my entire car.
I'm chasing the 10.0's and looking to scoop a 9 second ticket for wall art because I know it's there for the taking.
My end goal however is to run torque thrust wheels all the way around, steel hood with hemi scoop, consistently run around the 10.09 mark and have FUN doing it.
Doug you hit the nail on the head (as usual) early on when you directed me to the shocks. Removing 200 lbs, a better converter and low-gear set really messed up my combination. Since then I've read a lot, learned a lot and spoke to a number of fellows who have been thru the porpoising and hit and miss traction issues at this point.
A good set of ladder bars / shocks makes sense for me. Either the SW 36" like yours, or Comp. Eng Triple adjustable Outlaw bars in 36" length. I've decided on the Triple adjustables and just need to hit the check out button. Itching to get started on them. I'm leaving my perches in place and the rest so that leafs can go back if a guy ever wanted.
A friend told me - 2 things you DO NOT cheap out on: 1 - rocker arms, 2 - Shocks.

You go guy !
My next race is coming up Sept 15,16 but the air will probably be in the 3000 to 3500 range so I will be stuck in the 10.15-10.20 range but the NHRA CALIFORNIA HOT ROD REUNION race is Oct 19-20-21 and the air, that time of the year, is always in the 500' to 1000' range....this is when I will get my 9.999 time slip, guaranteed.
I have completed my weight reduction program on the car and taken out 180 lbs. 10.15 previous best ET will now become 9.978 with that weight out.
