WIW: this car is driving me nuts 63 Dodge

Note that at #1 car is a 100% original or "perfect" restoration show car and does not get driven, and a #2 is mechanically perfect, or the nicest possible car that still gets driven.

is it a 330 or a 440?

This seems to agree with the 6-6.5 consensus here, which was my first thought.

Well, I left a message Thurs evening. One again last night and tried again this afternoon. He must have either sold it, he didn't like my offer, or he decided to keep it. Wish he would at least answer or call me back to tell me something.

Well, after 3 weeks. I get a random phone call. The gentleman finally called me and apologized that he has been busy. Unfortunately, we are too far apart. He did not accept my offer. He want 10G's. After further discussion he said he would come down to 8G's for me. I may up my counter offer slightly more but I don't feel it is worth that much.

Sometimes you have to pay for the repairs you don't have to do. That car is another hard to find good parts for car and I would give $`10k all day if it was on this coast.

Most of us dream of finding a ride that clean. Think about how much $$ and time it would take to make a $1000 project car look that good. I'd pay $5 large in a heartbeat!

Maybe I'm wrong...but for a nearly all original survivor at 8K your thousands of dollars ahead of what a 2K dollar parts car would be in the end...I'd pay 8K for that if I knew about it...

Drive it for while...sell it later for what you have in it and you got the experience of the car for free...

I had a sneaking suspicion it was'nt going to go for $5k. Sounds to me anyway that this guy is right in the ballpark if he's willing to let go for $8k. Just my two cents. Let us know whereabouts it is if you give up on it. My advice to you tho is, just give the $8k and get on with the hobby!! This of couse is assuming it really is as rustfree as it looks in the only two pix weve seen.

It is a very clean car. I do appreciate everyone elses feedback. My Brother took some more pictures and sent them to me. For some unknown reason the owner started peeling of the oxidation off the hood and roof since the first time I seen it, as seen in the hood picture.

He told you someone offered more, you raised your offer, called multiple times and left 2 messages.

Could be the 3 weeks of being busy was working thru the potential buyers, and trying to get a higher amount by playing offers off each other.

Or, he actually wants to find it a good home, but sometimes $ changes things.

It's definitely worth 8k, as long as it's complete and solid.

Has anyone put cash in his face?

I left him another message to up my offer. I will see what he says.

hmm..im not seeing much more than 5-6 grand myself.
car looks like the suspension will need some addressing right away.
then theres the drivetrain, whatever your plans are there?
that will add up fast.
cool looking car and a nice project, but hey, dont overprice yourself.
if you are going to buy it and build it,
lay the whole thing out in your mind and be realistic about the costs.
hope it works out for you

and here's the thing...
you don't "need, gotta have" this car.....it's not Dad's, your first car, etc....so there isn't the sentimental bit to cloud your vision. Just a nice old Mopar you's like to have.

Update, just pulled up next to this car in my hometown of Livonia Mi. 30 minutes ago, wife said what is that? I said a very clean solid old Mopar,
Older gentlemen driving it coming out of the Kroger grocery store at 5 mile and Haggerty rd.
Very clean car, and with the paper for sale sign still in the back window

And how is complimenting and confirming the appearance of this car creating an enemy?

I think he was just poking fun...relax Francis

Thanks Basket case, at least you got it.

And how is complimenting and confirming the appearance of this car creating an enemy?

Yes, just poking and having fun. :poke: How long has he been chasing this car and then suddenly you find it and give its location away to everyone? Just thought it was funny, no harm intended.

that's the problem with the net...unless you add a smiley or something, sometimes it's hard to read a responde.
