Contact tracing is a rather new term we all are learning about.
This is something that is of value to understand. Our pet phones may not be loyal pets.

Bluetooth and location is never, NEVER, on on my phone. But they still know who is supplying your internet service so they know about where you are at.

My iPhone seems to know where I’m going sometimes. Tells me how traffic is on way there. Really bugs me out.

People were afraid that they were going to put computer chips in us to track us,but they can do the same thing with our phones, and charge us to do it!

My answer to your question is no, this thing is NOT my friend.

If someone knocks on your door for a followup --of close contact to a potential spreader of a virus because your phone told them to do so--how would you first react?

There's no escaping it, other than not having a current cellular phone...

Your cell provider always knows where you are within the "cell". The cell constantly transmits a signal that your phone, within a cell, respond back to many times a minute. That's how they know your general location within the cell. If you turn off location (GPS) at least they won't be able to tell to the nearest few feet where you physically are. Bluetooth range is like 20 ft. to another Bluetooth device. If your Bluetooth is on, other nearby phones always see your Bluetooth signal and on those persons phones GPS is likely turned on, so they still know where you are based on others phones.
The way the proposed Contact Tracing would work is based on a combination of Bluetooth / GPS and cell phones themselves. If all this concerns you, best solution is don't have a cell phone.

The cell company and/or government thinks I spend all my time on the kitchen counter.

To late to worry about it, you can run, but you can't hide.

Faraday bags my friends...it's a stop gap measure, but seems to be a good middle ground so far
