Freeze plug blew out

Got under the car today to see what type of freeze plugs are in it. They are non magnetic.

Like I said before, brass plugs are difficult to install and seal. I consider them a marketing ploy; "Won't rust out and look purty too". Steel plugs seal better, and are NOT meant to be a "forever" part. When the motor is rebuilt, they are meant to be replaced. When the cooling system is neglected, the rust issue shortens the steel plug life, and in extreme cases, hurts the block. Here is a 440 that had plug holes so rusted out, I had to fix them by boring them oversize (1.750").

Another one came out. Other side of the engine this time. The engine got really hot before I noticed what happened.

So no more dinking around. I am raising the engine and replacing the rest of them. I just hope the engine is OK.
