As per title,
Went to buy cheap spray cans of black paint = was sold out! Then went to the automotive dept.= found only 1 jug of GTX 20w50. Plus some cans of R134A Then a older gentleman stops to talk to me asking me for money? WTF! Then I go to pay for my items and can't find a cashier! Self checkout lanes were open. I did find one! Only one open cashier lane in the whole store! Walmart ain't what it used to be. I felt like leaving my grocery cart and walking out. I'm sure they would find someone to put back everything that was in my cart. And they can't find few more people to open up more check out lanes? What about all those people blocking the isles restocking?
Sorry, it's my turn to vent today !

Yep walmart is doing self check out everywhere, the first time I went in I wanted to leave.

I don't do Walmart. If I need hardware I go to my local family owned True Value. Groceries, Food Lion there is always a person waiting to check you out. My wife will venture to Walmart at 4 on a Saturday afternoon. Good luck with that!

I hear you! I go there to buy a couple pairs of blue jeans, my size in the brand I want there's nothing on the shelf, go home get online they tell me that they are available and ready for P.U in 1 hour. WTF? Why weren't they on the shelf a hour ago when I was there? Then there's the garden section where the aisle by the wall rack where they keep charcoal on the floor is blocked by a whole row of pallets of merchandise waiting to be put on the shelfs. How am I supposed to get charcoal when I can hardly make it down the aisle? It's been that way for over 2 months now, WTF?
And now the self checkouts are slowly turning to debit/credit only, 1/2 of them are already there!

People are getting ( not making) more money staying home but this isn't my turn to rant so i'll stop there.

I think we all could find stuff to vent about when it comes to WalMart. I avoid the place like it is on fire normally but upon occasion I will venture in-they do have great deals on oil and filters. When I go I go at 7am when they open and I am out at 7:15am. I actually like the self checkout since the machines are smarter than the average WalMart employee. Anyway last week I ran in to get some oil and on my way out the main aisle is blocked by some guy stocking milk so I make a right turn up a side aisle thinking I can still get out by 7:15am and crud the bread guy is stocking shelves and has that aisle blocked. He didn't look interested in moving but I politely asked him and he did. I rounded the end cap and down the next aisle and coming right at me was another cart-we made eye contact and being the kind person I am I stepped into the only spot in the middle of the aisle that did not have stuff stacked in it waiting for the other cart to pass by-you guessed it they stopped right before they got to me blocking the whole aisle. Mr Nice Guy went away and I jumped on their case pretty hard. Turns out it was a WalMart employee and a Manager discussing how to stock shelves-are you freaking kidding me they deliberately blocked a customer out to discuss something that stupid (remember we made eye contact). I took a deep breath and hit self check which was smarter than the manager that blocked the aisle and was back to my truck by 7:14am. Whew!

Some just find the Drive-Thru an easier option

I used to go to the mom and pop hardware store in town about 90 percent of the time. The man died and his wife struggled to keep the business going. The city, in its wisdom, decided to "beautify" the street. A project that could have been completed in about a month, took about six and seriously cut down access to the store.
I went to the store one day and saw a going out of business sign. I expressed my concern to the owner and she began to cry. She said it was really getting tough to stay in business and the distruption was the last straw. I hugged her and told her how sorry I was to see her go. All we have now for hardware is Walmart and HD.

It’s a party place for immigrants. Sunday meetings at aisle intersections.

Thanks everyone for your replies!
I think Walmart is moving too fast to save itself. Due to most people buying items online. I think doing this is actually driving people away! If I go to Walmart, or any local store, I want to deal with friendly and courteous people. Not jerks begging me for money and nobody at the cash registers and pallets blocking the isles.. Thanks again everyone!

It's not just Wally World - it's everywhere, in every line of work and service trade out there.
This is why your local grocery looks like one in Russia, what with unstocked shelves and lack
of employees.

This is why shipping of ordered items takes longer - less manufacturing capability due to lack
of help in the factories, not enough delivery and truck drivers on the roads, etc.
....or you sit on hold with customer service for an hour with whoever company...

I truly fear that this year of mandated pandemic has broken what was left of the back of America's
work ethic....I pray it's not too late to get folks out from in front of whatever streaming service they're
watching for hours each day and back out there working.

Kroger is No Picnic either.

Their Super Tech brake parts cleaner kicks some serious ***.

Haven’t stepped foot in a Walmart in 4 years!
