Have a leaking heater core. Trying to figure out how the heater box comes out...looks like it's all one piece from the pass. door post to the steering column. I see the screws at the bottom, but not sure how else it may be attached. Looks so nasty I'm considering bypassing the core. Forever...
First time I've tried setting up my own gear. Last time I paid a guy to set my 3.91 up...sounded like a freight train coming, drove it from my kids house to mine and sheared 6-7 teeth off the ring gear. When I pulled it, the pinion had about 1/4" of end play.
So here I am, schlepping and...
Ordered (online) a new 3.73 ring and pinion for my 741 case. Opened it up and found a 29 spline pinion, opposite of the existing10 spline yoke I was planning on using. New pinion has 7/8" thread and larger lock nut than the 10 spline.
The question is, can I get a 29 spline yoke that uses the...
Well, my entire dash basically went dark. Headlights still work, but that's about it. Trying to pull the cluster out, but it will not comply. Seems like after all the screws are removed, it should just roll out? Looks like there is a lip on the bottom that keeps it from coming all the way out. I...
Building up a new 3rd member and was counting on a yoke from the local trans place. They neglected to mention that all they had were the higher spline count yoke, so here I am. Let me know, thanks.
Just fired my 383 last week. Started and broke in very well. New Melling hi volume pump made pressure 75lbs. at startup, drops to 25 lbs.at idle, 60lbs. at 2500 rpm. Took my son up to the parts store to get collector gaskets. Almost drove by the store driveway, so I leaned on the brakes a bit...
The orange lens in my turn signal light just fell out. Anyone else ever have that happen, and how did you fix?
I was thinking just a couple dabs of clear silicone on the inside of the housing, and push it in. Think that's good enough?
So I decided to build a basic small block without any electronics, you know, JUST IN CASE. Started with a newly rebuilt 5.2L motor out of a '94 Dakota that got t-boned (by a cop, no less, but another story).
Anyway, it's been sitting in the garage for 15 yrs. or so with less than 10k miles on...
Long story short, I bought 15×7 4"BS steel wheels for the front, and 15x8 4" BS for the rears. With 275/60's I couldn't get the 15x8's under the stock rear.
I tried the 15x7's in the rear and they worked. I sold the 8" wheels, and need to buy 15x7 wheels for the front. My plan is to run...
Trying to install a mini starter from a '94 Dakota in my '67 383. The bakelite insulator on the primary connection is hitting the block and won't allow the starter to sit square on the bellhousing. Anyone ever run into this issue, and if so, how did you fix it?
I have 2 brand new US Wheel 15 x 8, 5 x4.5", 4" BS steel wheels for sale. Mounted tires and couldn't get them under my wheel wells. Asking $100 ea. plus shipping, or will trade for new/clean 15 x 7's, 3.5"BS.
Tried installing the 727 shift linkage today and got kicked square in the nuts. It just doesn't seem to wanna fit. Are the linkages different between a 904 and 727, specifically the gear shift linkage that goes from the frame rail to the trans? The one I took off the 904 seems too long and hits...
Pulled the original 273/904 out of my 67 Belvedere and replaced it with a 383/727. I would like to sell the small block and trans so I can buy more stuff for the car. Have absolutely no idea what a fair price may be, so I thought I'd ask. Motor was rebuilt by a shop in CA, (re-ring and hone, new...
Just did a SB/BB swap in my Belvedere, didn't notice that the power steering mounts are different. The BB mounting boss is about 1" wider than the SB. I could fabricate or modify, but figured someone may have some laying around.
Not knowing that the 2 PS pump mounts were different, I was just going to use the 273 mount on the 383. Nope.
Question is, is there a simple mod to make it fit? The mount hardware for the 273 is 1-1/2" wide, the 383 is 2-1/2". Hope you can see it in the pics...
Well, I pretty well screwed myself again. Measured, (or thought I did) rear wheel openings on the Belvedere II with the intent of putting 270/60-15's under there. Bought 15x8, 5x4.5, 4.5" bs steel wheels and thought I was rolling.
NOPE. I was a little off with my measurement. 1/4" off? NOPE...
