Felpro 8519SP and 8519PT1 Head gaskets.

Gathering parts to put this 440 back together. I noticed it has 8519 Shim head gaskets along with the 8519PT1 head gasket. Is there a purpose for the steel shim/copper gasket other than to lower compression or shim up for valve clearance? My dilemma is that I cannot find the 8519SP shims...

I was trying to fix the perpetual valve cover leak on the 383 I found out that one of the bolts was too short and not making it into the threads. So I pulled it out and stuck a piece of all thread in there to get the depth of how long the bolt was. Well here is where it all went south. Vice...

Added a Lokar kickdown cable but have a question.

I installed a Lokar cable but the question is should I add a spring to pull the kickdown back to the I guess you could call it closed position?
