I want to let my Thermoquad carburator be rebuild that came with my car. But I first want to be sure this is the correct carburator for a 74 Charger 440. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone has tips to ensure that past lessons learned are taken into practice in the rebuild?

Where can I find the best rebuild kit?

Should be a number by the yellow plug

Whats the number on the bottom left front ear?

Rock - Auto has several kits for your carb. Just get the number off of the back of the left rear mounting flange.

The Thermo-Quad was available with two primary throttle bore sizes, 1-3/8" and 1-1/2".
Flow ratings (CFM) vary depending on the source, but the TQs with the 1-3/8" bores are
listed as 750-800 CFM and those with the 1-1/2" primary throttle bores are rated at 800-
850 CFM. All TQs have the 2-1/4" diameter secondary throttle plates. The primary bore
size depended on application. In general, all 78 and later 318s and 360s and all 340s had
the smaller bore. Earlier 360s varied depending on application, most 400s and all 440s
had the large bore.

Tips:
- replace the air valve [ AV ] dashpot, not normally in the o'haul kit. The internal rubber deteriorates. Sitting in the car, it is mounted on the right side, rear of carb.
- do not forget the two o rings.
- if you want to noticeably improve secondary performance, go to the A body forums, Fuel section. You will see my post dated Oct 2 on TQ upgrades.
