1974 Roadrunner Re-Paint and Some Upgrades

Years of jacking put its toll on it so cut and welded a new plate. Now ready for powder coating.

Control arm/BJ issue is also commonly caused by people who assume they are pressed in and press them out.

They DID change to press in BJ's but IIRC it was during the 74 model year.

Some suspension mods ordered today from Firm Feel.

Suspension upgrades will be Firm Feel

Tubular Upper Control Arms with positive caster built in and urethane bushings and ball joints. I prefer rubber bushings but that was not an option

Lower Control Arm weld on reinforcement brackets. I will be using stock LCAs and stock ball joint and bushings.

1 1/4” inch front sway bar kit hand fabricated by firm feel.

Upgraded steering box stage 2 for firm steering.

Bilstein RCD rear shocks. I didn’t get Bilstein for the front because the LCAs would require modifications to fit. I am going with stock KYB excels for the front.

Everything else like pitman arms and tie rod links etc will be replaced with new Moog or Mevotech and rubber bushings.

The rear sway bar has been purchased and is an ADDCO 3/4” sway bar kit.

Spending some money!!!

I like your suspension plan and think you will be happy with it when it is done. I might suggest a sector support addition to the bottom of the Pittman arm to stabilize that. The steering shaft can actually flex quite a bit, and this will lead to a bit of "sloppiness" in the steering.

Keep up the good work!
