WOW! Sitting here working on the computer and listening to the NHRA broadcast from the Gatornationals.
During Q3, Larry Dixon's car had an explosion at 300+mph, split apart and went 20+ feet up in the air. When everything stopped, Larry got out of the cockpit unhurt.
Now that's an "E-ticket" ride!
Hope they can get another car put together and he gets a chance to get out and qualify during Q4.

EDIT: I just watched a video of Dixon's crash and there didn't appear to be any explosion. The chassis was arched while the car was making its run and then just split in two about a third of the way back from the front wheels.
The rear section with Larry in the cockpit flew into the air and spun around before coming back down.
No audio feed on the video. It looked to me like the chassis failed. It's going to be interesting to see what they report about the crash on the TV coverage.

Congrats to aslant (FBBO) for winning of the Top Qualifier title for the 2015 Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals with a very nice total of 28.0 bonus points. Alsant picked the #2 qualifier in Pro Stock, #3 qualifier in Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle, and the #4 qualifier in Top Fuel.
johnnycuda (FABO) took the runner-up spot with 27.5 bonus points.
Great picks all!

We have 24 players this week and 23 different driver combos made up of:
* 5 different Top Fuel drivers with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between #6 qualifier Antron Brown (7 picks) and #11 qualifier Larry Dixon (2 picks). There could also be one additional head-to-head matchups in the 2nd round of eliminations if they both survive the opening round.
* 8 different Funny Car drivers and two Round 1 head-to-head matchups. One between #6 qualifier Matt Hagan (7 picks) and #11 qualifier Alexis DeJoria (3 picks), and the other between #8 qualifier Courtney Force (1 pick) and #9 qualifier Ron Capps (1 pick). There are also 2 potential head-to-head matchups in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 8 different Pro Stock drivers picked this week with two Round 1 head-to-head matchups. One between #5 qualifier Greg Anderson (2 picks) and #12 qualifier Larry Morgan (1 pick), and the other between #6 qualifier Allen Johnson (4 picks) and #11 qualifier Drew Skillman (1 pick). Also a possibility of three head-to-head matchups in the 2nd round of eliminations.
* 4 different Pro Stock Motorcycle riders. No head-to-head matchups in Round 1 of eliminations and no chance of any head-to-head matchups in Round 2.

Good luck all!

back on 3-5-2015 my picks
No AJR for the Gators, hummm
that sucks a$$

I'm going with

T/F Tony Schumacher {as much as I hate to} #4 qualifier IIRC

F/C Ron Capps {he's overdue} unfortunately only #9 qualifier IIRC

P/S Jason Line {Cheby but looking good so far} #2 Qualifier last I saw IIRC

P/SM Matt Smith {Tricky Ricky' son} Matt went to #1 IIRC with the new Victory's

good luck all

what gives... LOL

I had a #4 in T/F he's in the finals
a #9 in F/C he's in the finals
a #2 in P/S he's in the finals
& a #1 in P/SM
{He broke 1st rd}

I was thinking "I should have" went with
T/F Shawn Langdon AJR for qualifying, instead of Tony
But looks like now thou, I made the right choices
I hope the race will be better in results than qualifying was...
yea ha I have 3 people in the finals & one guy went out 1st rd
