727 Lock Up

I have a 727 lock up transmission and I was wondering if it was worth rebuilding and installing in a street driven '66 Belvedere with a mild 400bb.

Another question I have is: Can I install an input shaft and valve body from a non lock up tranny to make it a non lock up 727?

They make a tourqe converter for that. Any good transmission parts supplier should be able to exchange your lockup converter.

There is a real advantage to having a locking converter in a mid performance platform. You can run a higher stall speed without the MPG and heat penalties usually associated with a high stall converter since the converter clutch eliminates any converter slippage once engaged.
