I just ordered 225/70/15" for the front of my '62 Polara. The diameter supposedly is almost 28".

Now measuring 14" from the center of my hub to the front inside edge of the fender well, it's really tight. Hope I didn't screw up. I've been seeing a lot of 225s on 65s ect. I was wanting to keep close to the same diameter front and back. I'll have the spare tire the same if I ever need it. I ruined one limited slip years ago placing one of those donut spares on the rear.

TIA

That is what is on the front of my 65. The photo sure makes it look small.

Looking at you avatar photo I would think about the same. like you I'm also thinking of going painted Steelies and dog dish. I have them just have to save up for the tires.

That's what I'm running. Tread rubs guard outer lip if I hit a bump at full lock, i.e. entering/exiting driveway ramps, but otherwise no problem.

I didn't see your post, or even receive an alert. I've noticed this a lot on this site.

I'm trying to think what guard you're talking about. The one below the back of the headlight?
(Edit) I bet your talking about the piece under the bumper that connects between the front of the two fenders.

My concern is at the front of the fender well. That's where I measured to from the center of the hub. How much room do you have there, between the tire and where I'm showing on this pic.

Mine rub as said on top of wheel arch lip.

225-70x15 should be 27.4" in diameter. I don't think there would be a problem. I have 235-70x15's on my 65 coronet and they are pretty close to the fender corners when turning.

These run real close to the front of the wheel well opening when the wheel is turned inward but should be ok. Passenger side is closer than driver side. I'll probably massage that a little so it doesn't grab when going through a dip.

I had the same thing with a 64 Dart. But had it closer on the driver side.Had to trim the leading edge of the fender so I did them both to match.I guess when they say tolerances on Mopars are +or- 2'' they aren't joking. Well maybe a little.....
