Brutus at the car show

Glad to see a good guy won!! Wish i coulda made it but the whole job thing gets in the way. See ya when the corn comes out or the covered bridges show comes around....which ever comes first...LOL
. If the weather is good , we will probably be at the Festival--one of our favorites. ....I saw some corn down by St Joe today that looked like the bottom of stocks were beginning to dry.............See ya..............................MO

Corning, IA........I graduated from High School there waaaayyyy back when.....

Gawd.....the stories I could tell about that town and cruising Main St on Saturday nights......spent many a night in the Pub playing foosball and video games. And throwing the Frisbee on the bricks at the bottom of Main next to the railroad tracks.

For Halloween one year, I tied about 3-4 ears on corn on the end of a 20 ft chunk of electric fence wire, tied the wire to the back of my 70 GTX, then went cruising up and down Main St with the ears dragging from my rear bumper.

Ol' Harold(the town cop about three months from retirement) pulled me over and asked me if I knew I had a wire with ears of corn tangled on my rear bumper. I said that Yes, I did know there was a wire with corn tied to it back there. He asked me what the hell was up with that, and I replied that I was out trolling for pigs!!! He shook his head and started laughing...and crawled back in his car and left....:D

I still have an oil painting my Grandmother did of Johnny's birth place in my closet at home.
Rick, I am in awe ! You told me about delivering papers in New Market and talking with the brothers that had the orange 69 B body six pac. Word is, they still have it. You know how rural this area is with tiny small towns. 100+ miles to Omaha, Des Moines, or Kansas City, and here you are --world famous , selling new parts for Mopars with customers throughout the USA and maybe over seas, a sponsor of FBBO !!!! I would like to know your journey clear out to Washington.
Trolling for pigs...I didn't know if you were talking about cops , or our midwest hefty farm girls LOL ! Thanks for the note........Steve................MO

Last spring when i was down to Corning to get some stuff from Feeders Supply i found that building with the car collection in it. The guy opened up so we could walk thru. He has a little of everything and neat to see!

There were only two catagories in the Mopar class. Before 1992 and 1992 and later. I was very surprised and pleased to win first place. The trophy has a picture of Johnny on it.
We have talked about putting this car up for sale this Fall. It would not be priced at bargain basement , but not high priced either. We would consider offers.............................MO

How come johnny carson always claimed to be from Nebraska ? he was always tooting the corn huskers. (when they could beat the sooners) He was the best, none of the puks now can touch him !

My journey to Washington has been "a long and winding road" so to speak. Too many details to go into here and I don't want to hijack your thread, but I will say it has been a most interesting experience.

Those "hefty farm girls" are one of the reasons I got into fast cars......so they couldn't catch me with their Vegas and Pintos!!!! RUN FOREST!!! RUN!!!! HaHaHa!

I was always told growing up, that Johnny Carson was born in Corning, but very shortly afterwards, the family moved to Nebraska where he grew up and went to school. My lockermate at Corning High actually lived in that very same house.

Guess I'll have to get around to digging that oil painting out of my closet......

Just like John Wayne was born in Winterset,IA and lived there only 3 years but they still claim him.

Very nice, Steve! Brutus has come a long way from the start!

I think if I remember he went to high school in Norfolk, NE. or lived there before becoming famous. My dad told me one time he lived there.

I went to another car show Sunday. Very few classes, and no 2nd or 3rd place awards. They did not have a Mopar class. No entry fee, and that is the way I like it. Sponsored by the local Lions Club. I won a award that I really was happy to get. I had never heard of that catagory--have you? I will attempt to post a pic of the award, and you can see the name of it..................................MO

Nice going, Steve! That's a new one on me, too.

There have been a few out chopping corn. Something I have not seen in a long time. Its going to take some dry weather here if pickings going to start on schedule.

Congratulations on the win at the car show. You have a sweet looking ride there. Sorry you have to sell it - but understand - especially if you've got a RR waiting in the wings. Good luck with that!

Was that for the car or the driver? They both look a bit intimidating...:steering:

It's a shame you are considering a sale...
You need to do what you think is right

Good luck with the 68 RR too...

LOL ! That was mentioned . But in both cases the bark is worse than the bite. Brutus may be getting his teeth sharpened at this time. Today, I took the points distributor to a friend who has a dist. set up machine, and we set the advance limit, the advance curve , tested the vacume advance, and installed the Pertronix III points conversion to electronic. Tomorrow, I will get new spark plugs, increase the gap, and install the dist . and Pertronix 40,000 volt coil. The way the stock points dist was set up, I am expecting a major improvement. ...................MO
