On the data tag of my 68 Roadrunner, the date code is A05. Would that be October 5 of 67 or 68??

For 1968, the model year production ran August 1967 to July 1968 so October of 1967 would be in the first quarter of production.October was very late or beyond model year production.

The 1969 models were built anywhere from August 1968 to the beginning of July 1969. The line was usually shut down for a few weeks in summer to get ready for the next year's model. My '69 road runner has a build date of January 30, 1969, and when I learned this, I thought it was odd because today's new cars seem to come out even before Summer of the year before.
The late into the year build dates in '69 explains the 69 1/2 440-6BBL.The 1969 models were built anywhere from August 1968 to the beginning of July 1969. The line was usually shut down for a few weeks in summer to get ready for the next year's model.
