I'm leery of State Farm. We have had everything with them for years - vehicles, house, umbrella. So I checked with them on our Satellite when we bought it. Our agent said, sure - we have a collector car division now. He came over, snapped some pics, and wrote the policy for the value I wanted. Of course, he had no idea what he was looking at. About a month later, I received a letter from them. They said they valued our car at only $9500. (well under the stated value we had on it). It was then that I realized that State Farm's collector car division does not understand collector car values. $9500. for an original, running, driving unrestored 4-speed Hemi car? Yes, it doesn't have great paint and has rust, and I think that's all they can see. No further investigation into the condition of the car - they just judged it off of my agent's pics and assessed it for that amount. I was on the phone with Hagerty within 5 minutes of reading that letter. I emailed a couple of pictures to them and it was a done deal. No fuss, no muss. So, beware of State Farm collector insurance should you ever have to collect.
