There is a company out there that restores the original units. It costs a bit but saves a lot of aggrevation.

I stumbled onto this guy a couple months ago. Great service at a very reasonable price:

Andy Russell, phone: 330-260-1724. He restored two OE fuel senders for me. Cost was $75 shipped for each. I have installed both and they work as they should. He told me he also has many parts on-hand so maybe he can help with parts alone.

He has a website but it doesn't seem to be working. Might be on Facebook as well.
