Greetings from Wisconsin

welcome to FBBO

Hey all, thanks for the warm welcome!!!! Here are a couple pictures!

We are in the Cedarburg/Port Washington area of SE Wisconsin. I have a detached shop I built at my house a few years back, that is heated, so we're doing the work by me. Good opportunity to spend time with my dad, and good opportunity for him to get out of the house.

Dad and I have made some good progress. The drivetrain is out of the car right now. We decided to get on the gas pedal and really get it ready for spring. The stock 383 was pretty low compression (flat top pistons 0.090" below deck and unknown cam), calculated just under 8.0:1. We'll probably clean and re-gasket the 383 that came with the car and store it away.

The plan for now:

1) Donor 383 block stroked to 431/438 with Edlebrock Performer RPM Heads (75cc) for about 10.5:1. Will likely run a Holley Super Sniper EFI system (plus their Hyperspark coil/ignition/distributor) on a Performer RPM intake. Cam choice (will be hydraulic flat tappet) is still in works to balance idle vacuum and performance). Block is getting machine work started this week, so more to come here. Target is 500-525hp being a bit conservative.
2) Stock A833 is apart on the bench getting a once over. It had few leaks from shift shafts and was a bit crunchy feeling. Getting a rebuild kit, synchro's, bearings and a new input shaft, bearing support and a fresh paint job. We've got a McLeod Super Street clutch for it and a new stock flywheel.
3) Auburn limited slip in the stock 741 rear case with stock 3.21 gears. This should give us some decent RPM at 65-70 and hoping the extra torque from the stroker build makes it plenty quick on the street.
4) Full length 1-7/8 TTI headers and 2.5" exhaust with X pipe. Had them include O2 bungs for EFI.
5) 17x7 and 17x9 HK Magnum aluminum wheels with some BFG G-Force Sport Comp tires...225/50 up front and 255/45 in back
6) Aluminum 3 row radiator and electric fan setup controlled by the Super Sniper.
7) It needs a few things, a couple pieces of seat trim missing inside, some replacement seat belts, drivers window track looked at, etc. All in due time.

Hi again from Chilton, Do you take in other people's cars or just your own projects?

In the past we have only done our own projects, but always had a pipe dream of doing this kind of work full time thing. My real day job doesn't provide me with the satisfaction that working with my hands on vehicles does. My big problem is space - my shop is only 28x28 with really room for one car at a time (with all my other tools).
