I have welded seams solid first, before duraglass. I've duraglassed over lead. I've done pure lead. When done properly they will all work. And no, my roof seams don't "move in the sun". How straight is this car?
You are correct when I said duraglass over the welded seam it was primed first. The best way would be to weld all the spot welded seams up then lead and primer then filler and sealer then paint.... never put glass or filler on bare metal if it was all media blasted bare before he leading process one could electroplate the body in copper first no rust would ever come back and the lead would have a good cleen foundation
How much lead will i need to do both quarter panel to the roof seams ?
I know this thread is more on the topic of lead, but just thought I'd note that All-Metal says in the directions to apply on bare metal sanded with something like 60 or 80 grit. I stripped my quarter seams, roughed them up and spread the All-Metal. My friend that does professional restorations uses it this way too, don't think it does as well over a primed or painted surface.
Haven't heard of Lab Metal but it's basically body filler with aluminum in it. It's worked awesome for my friend for years and has worked well for me so far, too.Is All Metal roughly the same thing a Lab Metal?
