Lookie what $5000 buys you....

door hinges have a mile of adjustment.....but I've had to "customize" more than a few aftermarket hinges......... you never want to be "maxed out" on an adjustment

I'm guessing that the threaded holes are met with a square hole in the hinge itself? If so, this is great to learn! If not, a few moments with a Dremel tool could oval it out.
Yup, There should be a floating plate with threaded holes captured behind the two square holes & the hinge has square cut out at the third location..

pro tip...... you'll thank me for this

loosen hinge bolts one at a time and snug each bolt so the weight of the door wont move it........ then hit the hinge with a hammer in the direction you want it to move.....it'll stay put with each hit until you have it where you want it

floating plates inside the doors...... not inside the car

another tip...... always make sure the plates move freely

I will have to investigate further....
The left door on the red car hangs a little low at the front, I figured the hinge was worn out. It might be but if I can align the door by adjusting the hinge, that would be cool.

Oh yeah. We did that in construction too. Snug up a bolt or nut, whack something with a mallet to move it, then cinch it down.
Thank you.

where did KD go? is he outside loosening door hinge bolts already?..... I hope he read post 1463

I wouldn't be surprised if he was.. The boy ain't lazy... Put a idea in his head & he will make it happen..
Thanks guys!
I am in for the night though. There is tomorrow, as long as I don't croak in my sleep!

A worn hinge will cause the rear of the door to hang low, not the front... Wanna know if the hinge is worn? un-latch the door but barely open it, grab the rear edge of the door & lift... If it moves there is slop in the hinge...

even with slop in the hinge, the door can be adjusted (hinge moved) to compensate

Yeah, there is a little.

Rebuild...Is that where you remove the pin, drill the hole oversize, drive in a bushing and reassemble?

I have a "door dolly" ....... makes my life easy..... I've installed many freshly painted doors all by myself.....I use the crap out of it, it's like having a boy :D
