ok we know the worst tool, what's the best tool you ever bought

Is that a good thing, though? Sounds like you tripped over an ideal entrepreneur/"consultant" thing there?

Well, I'll probably keep making parts even after I don't feel like taking jobs that require travel so it's not really a bad thing...

I’m with @moparedtn ! I bought this as a toy for my pre-retirement and since, I’ve used it frequently for jobs that were previously a real PITA. I now have a snow thrower, post hole digger, grapple, narrow trenching bucket and a ripping hook for it. Only 80 hours on it in the 3 years since I got it, but it was worth buying! I love making mods to it and watching youtube videos made by other tractor owners and dealers. I’ve added rear wheel spacers, hitch receiver, horns, ROPS lights,a thumb, and a brush guard. I don’t know how I got by without it before.

I'm with Greg and the others. Creeper diving sucks! After many years, I was able to get my 4 post. The older you get, the more creeper diving blows since I'm not as flexible as I used to be. From there I probably use my Dewalt 20v 1/2" drill the most. After that, it depends on what I'm doing. Many years ago I figured if I had to borrow a tool more than a couple of times, I needed to by my own. I hate having to rely on others to use a piece of equipment. A friend has a stomp shear so I told him we could trade use if he needs to use any of my stuff. That works too. As long as the borrower isn't one of those people who could ruin a hammer in a sandbox. Them I stay away from.

When I was building cars, there was one tool I used a lot. When attaching apples to oranges, one car part that was never meant to be on another car, this was as handy as a pocket on a shirt. Great when you can't get to the back side to attach a nut to a bolt.

I still haven't found one
but I'm still trying

I can't name just 1

maybe that 7/16" (Mac) wrench I couldn't find
that I found 'setting' on the header, right where it fell

or maybe my 8" worm-drive Skillsaw
that needs another trigger, again, things like 40+ y/o

M12 3/8 rachet and M18 multi tool are my new favorites along with the Graco sprayer/roller(saved me alot of time).

If you haven't lifted the newest version of the 7 1/4" Skilsaw, you'd be amazed at how light they are now. When I go to grab one of my older saws, I'm shocked at how heavy they feel.

Light is nice if your using it all day but the older saws are definitely heavier duty...

I have never worn one out. I've gone through countless triggers, tables, handles and some brushes but never wore a motor out. The newest saw I have sounds like it has loose bearings inside the way it rattles but most of them seem to do that.

Recently there have been many but my 2 newest ones are 35hp kioti, and 18.000lb dump trailer clearing for my new shop build.

This type of pliers. I got one in the early 70's while in service. I still marvel at how handy it is.

Had tried to find a new one for years. When Dad died 13 years ago I found a new one in his stuff, still in the government issue wrap and cosmoline. So I retired mine but still find myself reluctant to use Dads, since it was his and it was new. Been watching eBay for some time now to see if another new one might surface.

Greg is right with the 2 post lift, invaluable!!!!
Tied for 1st is my power probe. This think is a life saver with any electrical issue.

Best tool I bought in a long time was a cheap engine hoist from Harbor Freight.
I resisted buying one for awhile but it’s already paid for itself removing and installing a new outboard on my old Whaler.
