I had an interesting day yesterday. I woke up with vertigo. This is when your internal gyro-compass goes wacky. As soon as I tried to sit up, the room started to spin and I felt like passing out. Really scared me. I yelled at my wife to call 911. The dispatcher told my wife to get me to chew 2 Aspirin 81's. By the time the ambulance got here, we managed to get me out of bed and dressed, and sitting in my living room. I was still very dizzy and stressed. At the hospital, the emergency staff got me hooked up to heart and blood pressure monitors. Of course, the readings were crazy, due to my stress. A blood test was done, and once my vitals returned to near normal, I was wheeled away for a CT scan of my head. I even got a Covid test. All the tests came back OK. The doctor said that I may be coming down with a viral infection that affects my inner ear. After 6 hours at the hospital, I was able to walk around without falling down, so I was sent home.
Today, I was still kind of wobbly and tired. As the day progressed, I have been feeling better. Tomorrow is my 74th birthday. My wife asked the other day what I wanted for my birthday. I jokingly replied, "To wake up in the morning!" . I'm going to quit making jokes for a few days.
