I bought a 69 Road Runner B5 Blue 383 AC auto with tach. The vin number on the engine match the vin on the dash and the drivers trunk edge under weather strip. The vin on the core support on the drivers side is not there. I looked at the core support for evidence of replacement and found nothing to be out of order or and signs that it was ever replaced. Did the factory at times not stamp the core by accident??? The trans is not matching numbers either. This car also came with the dual snorkle air cleaner that i have not seen many of. Looking forward to returning it to original.
Thanks Dave

Numbers matching typically refers to having the original motor and transmission in the car and strictly numbers matching cars would also have the correct date codes on the other major components (rear-end, heads, carb, manifolds, distributor, etc.) The engine and the tranny are the only components that were stamped with the portion of the VIN that is the consecutive unit number. Those last six digits should be present on the engine block stamping pad as well as the transmission in a numbers matching car

It's would be nice for a car to have all of its original parts such as starter, alternator ,etc...But the big deal is the motor and trans. The engine and transmission would be dated coded within thee months of the build date.

Mopar was know to used what ever they had available to build .The engine, transmission, steering box and wiper motor are date coded before the ?1969.date...

On the radiator support try under it, or if you have the long yellow radiator fluid stick on the drivers side of the support it's under there. if not look under that lip.

My 69 rad support VIN is actually stamped on the inside channel part and not under the coolant sticker as commonly found.

I will look under the yellow sticker. Thanks fo all the assistance.

They are sometimes tough to see. Like Meep said, check in between the radiator and the support. Somewhere in the first third. (driver side).
