remember you asked for opinions
it's a DAMN Cool old car
Is all the car there ?
or maybe better to ask what's not there ?
that's what a real interested buyer wants to know
if you're trying to market it as
Butch Leal's old 82 P/S Charger
if most the org. stuff isn't there, it's hard to say it's his old P/S car
it's basically just a an old racecar chassis, with some history
how much has been altered from when (Larry) Butch Leal campaigned it ?
won't really know, Butch is gone since 2011-12 (?)
obviously it's not the org. engine
does it still have any of the org. running gear,
rear, trans, can, clutch, seat, peddles
or any verifiable documentation
did you get something from Butch, to say it was
"actually his old car"
especially in writing
It's a cool car...
the car has history too
unfortunately it doesn't look like the California Flash anymore
some of that history is lost
Price is so arbitrary, especially in the car hobby
& especially ex-racecars, especially if their outdated sfi certs etc.
everyone wants a deal
everyone will have an opinion
-----------------------------------------------------------------
sorry I have no real good opinion on value
please don't take what I'm about to say or have already said
the wrong way
it's not meant to insult you, the owner or the car
(
I'd love to have/own it, but I'm not in the market either)
to me $45k for a chassis & none org. combos
(
outdated old P/S or sfi certs etc.)
is a tad high
combined value may be that much, but it's not org. stuff
so it's a $0.50 cents on the dollar for old race stuff, if your lucky
the Hemi engines do have good value thou too
(
I'm sure you know you advertise & try sell old race stuff here, all the time)
UNLESS
without some of the real Butch Leal's
'documentation'
or some or most of the historic Iconic
'as run' race parts
(
it's just another old racecar, sorry not meant to be a downer, just honest)
with the car to make it what it was, or it's just another old racecar chassis
from that era don't sell for a lot on $$$,
good proven rolling chassis, current certs etc., for $10k-$15k all day long
especially if it's with out all the (org.) parts to back it up
by the way it's
Willy Rells, chassis builder
he was one of his builders (San Diego area Chassis Dynamics (?)
maybe contact them, he maybe can tell you more
--------------------------------------------------------------
in 83 he was campaigning/running
a Pontiac Trans Am
Rod shop black car
as seen here at Ontario OCIR 6-25-1983
I saw it in person
not sure how long Butch ran or owned the in question Charger
he was running a Camaro in 1981 IIRC
Good Luck,
I hope it all does well for you
& it's current owner
