What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Brought civilization back to my rental apartment rebuild.

Work has been killing me so this is the first I've been able to make any progress in a couple weeks, but...floor tile is in and grouted (still needs cleaned), vanity is installed, baseboard is in, sealed, and painted, new toilet flange installed (75 year old black iron flange was...sketchy), toilet is set, stable, hooked to water (no leaks), and test flushed a dozen or so times (just water) with no leaks on that side either above or below the floor. I'll probably keep testing it before I seal the base to the floor, just to be safe.

Now, to tile the tub surround...

uncovered my boat finally, had to bring the batteries home to charge, hopefully will be in the water in a couple days

This morning at the office, I pulled weeds from the garden, trimmed the bushes and cut back some of the Japanese Knotweed that's creeping in. Got home & ran the weed whacker around the perimeter of the yard, garage & house, and then mowed it.

Got the truck back together yesterday.
But....

The power steering pump leaks (likely because we ran it dry too many times as the rack was leaking progressively worse)

It sits up higher in the front probably up 1 - 1/2" or so as it still had the V-6 springs in it before.
I'll have to get pictures of it next time.

Not to tell you your business @Triplegreen500 but in my experience, if you caulk the bottom of the toilet, any leak in the wax ring will not be detected and ends up rotting out the floor. If you leave it unsealed, leaks become immediately visible and can be dealt with much sooner. That is my preference for rental properties.
yesterday I traded even my focus for a YJ

Well, you got the better end of that trade!

Round 4 on exhaust leaks on the Cram. Put B&D manifolds in to replace the leaky BBK headers which replaced the cracked stockers. I will NEVER swap one of these POS into an old car, never.

Any broken bolts to deal with?
As always,, spring for the factory gaskets if you can. And give the new manifolds a couple swipes with a flat block and sand paper, if possible

Been considering that as well. I usually leave a "weep hole" for leak visibility, but try and close most of it up just to keep tenant-crap and incompetent-cleaning from letting....uh..."stuff" accumulate underneath it.

Running a large flat file on the header flanges is something I always do too.....some are pretty bad.

The BBK's were only on for 60,000KM, the welds cracked on the left manifold back and second from back. No broken studs thankfully. The new BD diesel manifolds were a work of art, twice as heavy as the factory stuff and with collars for the studs so the manifolds can heat and shrink back and forth like the slant sixes and Hemis did only better. I am hoping this is it. At least now I can listen for any lifter noise again.
