Where did you and your car go today

Pretty ballsy playing Hell's Bells on the way to church.

Any close lightning strikes?
I was impressed that he even goes, good for you. He's on his way to see God, he's covered!!

Call me OCD....
I've never opened the
drive-thru bag in my cars.
Instead, preferring to eat at
place of purchase or when
arriving home.
No food, no smoke. Not
adverse to drinks in the cup
holders, but if [you] ever
spilled one, [you] were
remembered forever.
I'm proud of him, that's what it's for. Taking him to a good time!!

Renting a concrete grinder among other things.
I love Dakota's and really love R/T's. Had a friend that had one, can't remember the year. It was caught up in the recall for the rear bumper fiasco. The bump had 2000 lbs stamped on it, but you weren't supposed to tow at all. It had 30 thousand miles on it and they were forced, by law, to buy it back. I got the fresh air intake for my 360 4 door Dakota from him. They paid him for the headers and anything extra he put on it. He got every dime back for it. He couldn't believe it.

I don't think I'd have let a matter like that deprive me of the most reliable, maintenance free vehicle I've ever owned.
I was also unaware of that recall prior to you posting it here.

LOVE is an understatement concerning my Dakota, although I could probably treat it a little better.
However, that's actually one of the things I love about it. It doesn't care that I borderline abuse it.
It just keeps going.

That said, I did bend/crack the bumper using the ball mount.
Of course I was towing with it and shouldn't have been.
It lasted years and years before the point I decided to install a frame mounted receiver/hitch.

I've also never had an issue with the plastic rear sway bar struts that are the reason you're not supposed to tow with an R/T model.
I've literally towed a dozen cars across the state and two full size trucks across the county.

I wonder why the dealerships couldn't have simply installed a frame hitch to rectify the issue.
IIRC they did something similar with Jeeps with the gas tank issue.

The truck was never built to haul. The bumpers they used were for all Dakotas and stamped 2000 lbs. They shouldn't have use them, to cheap to use ones just for the R/T's.
He bought another one and a few years in, he prayed they'd come for it, so he could get a another free one, never happened. He love them!!

Mine.

A couple years ago I found a replacement back bumper that is steel all across, in back of the license plate.
WTF were they thinking, leaving that big gap?
Haven't put it on yet, pending doing some paint work including my Shelby Pursuit hood.
Guy was selling three of them on CL for $60 each.

I got hit in the rear end and the body man told me he couldn't find a sports bumper like mine. I told him he wouldn't, I painted it all white after I bought the truck. It had black plastic pads on top that I painted white. He bought the same bumper and painted it all white!! LOL.

I worked that truck like a rented mule. It had a 360 and I sold it with a 140,000 miles on it, the most I've ever had. A kid wanted it and he bugged me about it all the time. I sold it to him so cheap his mother asked what was wrong with it. It had a single glass pack on it and sounded absolutely awesome. He was happy and I later wished I hadn't sold it. I do that a lot. Best truck I ever owned.

I had a 2004 grand Cherokee they recalled because of the gas tank issue. They were going to put a hitch on it to protect the tank, but I already had that done along with a transmission cooler when I bought it.

Yesterday the Southern Nevada weather was perfect for a drive.
Took the old 63 out for a 30 mile spin. I hit the I-11 for a highway cruise.
Ran it up to 80 mph a few times and settled into a 70 mph steady speed.
A loop of state route 93 and I-11 makes a nice run for fun.

Just running errands. The sun was so bright and the trim was so shiny I had to take a few photos.

I went out to the 'Ku again today in the A100. Had an appointment with the local exhaust specialist.....getting the SuperComp Headers replaced with some Patriot 'hugger' type headers to hopefully cut down on heat emission and gain back some valuable real estate under the engine lid.

I removed the passenger seat at home to save time, and then removed the driver seat & side panels at the Exhaust shop.....saves time and grief for the boss man doing the job. He makes all sorts of tubular frames - doing a lot of circuit car cages right now, and is heavily booked up. I got in because I know people who know people.....much like our very own @Sonny Black .

Anyhoo....apparently I goofed up 5 years ago and ended up putting double gaskets in on the head face to the headers....they must have been stuck together with a little oil. Absolutely zero leakage and perfectly sealed ..... so we are putting single gaskets in this time....lol My mistake luckily, I had 10 gaskets made. They are way better than any of the rubbish that I have ever bought from the big box shops.

I had a quick glimpse at the newly fitted Patriot on the passenger side, and man what a difference in size......I like it already. I realise the scavenging effect will be diminished, but with the A100, a 15% loss in power won't be an issue. This thing is badass enough as it is. This exhaust work also enables a couple of other issues to be tidied up - one is the tail pipe extension tips have a 'shorty hanger L bracket' - what I mean is that the tail pipe actually falls out of the rubber hanger sometimes. So I am getting another 30mm welded on each tip hanger to keep it in place. The exhaust can grow in length up to 15mm when hot.....similar to how Concorde grew 9 inches during Supersonic flight.

The other thing is the old collector flange from the headers back was mild steel - that was what I was supplied with....now I have new custom cut Stainless flanges, the entire system will be stainless now.

So a page or so back I was yammering on about a car I went with my buddy Cliff to look at. Well, I dropped him off to collect it today - it was halfway home for me and I needed to take another car home after leaving my truck at the exhaust shop.....musical cars day again.

Here's a few shots of the newly acquired South African Valiant Ute. There is a reasonable amount of paperwork with the Ute, and it will undergo some mechanical finessing over the next few weeks ready for compliance and certification for NZ roads. Another tax in reality.
Here's some pics. The guy sold it as he is a Holden guy (please see Blue Forum for reference purposes)...but he saw this and couldn't leave it behind

It really is a mint car....some minor cosmetic work to do, but 99.5% rust free due mainly to its location in the dry heated desert of inner South Africa.

I had a 64 Ford van and loved it. The only problem, like yours, there is no room under the lid and insulation for heat and noise was my best friend. Very nice, thanks for sharing!!

Went out today, the weather was incredible. Stopped at a few of my junk shops looking for stuff to make car art or just old crap.

This one's mine, as soon as we come to terms. $145.00 didn't feel right today. I'll be back.

Took the 67 to a small cruise night at a local golf course. After all the golfers leave, they keep the resturant/bar open late for the guys that bring cars. So the wife and I enjoyed some Pupu's and drinks. I wore a shirt my grand kids gave me.

I love seeing input on this thread with people using their B bodies for daily activities or driving around for no reason at all. Drive them every chance you get

Yesterday, I finally got the numbers# engine in my Charger started up and broke in and took it for a 10 mile drive down the highway. It was quite the journey finding the bare block, getting it a couple thousand miles back home, and dealing with a few machine shop fumbles. Its a relief to have that accomplished.
