I'm wanting a drag look on my 68 coronet.

I researched and read some guys running 295s. Found a pair of 295/55/15 MT et street. But I don't think it's tall enough to give that look.

Any suggestions?

Pic below to give an idea of the sort of look id like. I do understand there's mods done to it. But to have an idea.

A couple of questions how much are you willing to modify your car? How close do you want to get to the look of the car you posted? The car that you posted is probably back halfed pro street, so entirely custom rear frame rails suspension, narrowed rear end etc. The wheels on the back are probably 14 inches wide. If you don't want to do that Coker has a 285/70/r15 big silver town that would give you a similar prostreet profile sidewall, but not wide enough that you had to modify frame rails etc. It's a big tire. Its no where near the width to get the race car look.

The first picture is Bitchin. Also not practical for street use. Looks tubbed. 295-50 15's on an 8" rim on the 69 pictured. Your car looks good the way it is.

Yeh def not looking into doing all that. I have newer suspension qa1/hotchkis. That's about it. I guess I'll probably just get those 295s and be done.

Thanks guys

Check further, not sure about 68 wheelhousings. Check with an owner before purchasing. On track day, the left rear tire CAN scrub the leaf spring if pushed hard enough. Just a kiss, and on track day.

Is that Y2? Wish mine was that shiny.

You might get 1/2 the width of the tire in the B&W photo. Stretched lips and tubs will give that look.

What size do you have on there now? they look good.

What your after though is tall tires, 29-30"s. 295 width on 10" with 5" BS. This is what I have worked out from quite a lot of other peoples posts. The 295/50's are only 26" tall, which has turned me off them.

In Australia, my choices have boiled down to, 26" tall 295's, 28" tall 275's (which I have) OR black walls in what ever specs I want. Honestly not overtly happy with any of the choices. So for the moment, I'm going to stick with what I have and put some rubber on some 18's I have to mix it up occasionally while I think it over.

Also if you want the rake, then you need to go smaller on the front. 30/28, 28/26 etc. I'm running 28"/27.8" or something like that and I'm not happy with that either! Part of why I'm still stewing over options!

Y2?
If you mean the colour, the original I think was an ss-1 light yellow but Prev owner had it painted 1995 Chrysler crossfire yellow which replicates the original 1. Paint was a PPG brand OMNI.

When I had bought the car it came with 235s in the rear..which I pulled off in a day or so lol hated the look. Went with 275/65s

Now I'm wanting a bit more .. so thought of 295s.

Has anyone tried the Hoosier?

On my 69', I originally ran 295/65r15 M/T ET Streets. Right at around 30" tall, currently, I'm running a 285/45r18; 28.5" tall. It really depends on what you want, you'll need some Super Stock springs to bring up the rear ride height a bit for the 295's without inner-wheel tub modifications.
