You're given a million dollars. Car/cars or house?

I would dump it all into costco stock. Then live off the dividends, giving my employer the finger.

(I would have to check the math first, of course)

That's because you live in a beautiful part of the country!

Fast cars and fast women, the rest would just be wasted....Wolfman jack I think.

We'd buy the acreage we found in TN, build the log cabin, and when complete, sell our place here. Move, and use the sale funds to put up my 40'x100' Dream Shop. Maybe buy the wife a new mower, so she doesn't struggle....

Major down payment on moderate to large self storage facility.

Let that pay you back and generate income plus provide storage for your car collection "for free".

If there's any left over, major down payment on estate.

With low mortgage payment plus income from storage, you'll be able to afford a car or two every year or thereabout.

Nice Shop. What is the ladder for? Sneaking out of the house at night to work on your cars?
I was finishing the painting on the house when the picture was taken.

Took this picture before I left today.

High interest return for 3 yrs and then begin living off interest.

This is kind of close to home for me. I know it's a dream for now, but I have a 6 figure share count in a small company that's about to get FDA approval. It's very exciting to watch

Million bucks? I'd probably invest it in Pfizer and Moderna seems like lots of other people are getting stupid rich doing it why not me?

I live in a 1200 square foot house. Id probably sell this house and buy a house on a large piece of land in the middle of nowhere. Then build my junk yard as I see fit. Oh and an asian hooker too. I need her to clean my new house.

Yeah, I was going to say New York City but that seemed too limiting. Also in California, I'm sure there are SOME good places left.

I was just looking at some of the homes over 10 million in Colorado. It made me think.

Sell my place almost double it or more
(I already have investments)
buy property/acreage outright
& build a place farther away from civilization...
Not up at snow levels, as much as I am now...
$1.5-$2 mill doesn't go as far as it used to...

Sonora Gold Country Jamestown area.jpg

Basically, maybe a 10-15 acre parcel, 5 acre min.
rolling hills & pref. water nearby
(I had over 40 acres before, sold it, I lived on 165 acres young when in school
& it was 'way too much work'
)
A building set away from the road, a gated & long paved or concrete driveway
it'd be a huge (for me anyway) garage
shop like 40' x 60' x 20'+ min., 2 story high (at least on 1 end, or -1/2)
with big *** automated roll-up doors on either end
with drive-thru access & like 12' high & 16' wide doors
tall enough to fit a motorhome thru it
open floor & ceilings
the lower level 'all shop'
'big *** fans' for circulation
squirrel cages for heat removal on the roof
maybe an insulated roof, with opening natural light & ventilation
HVAC & maybe (?) even radiated heated floors for winter
maybe build a tilt-up, all concrete very lil' maintenance
cheaper for fire insurance too
water on all four corners of the shop
a few planters/boxes for some greenery outside
with a 2-3 Bdr apartment upstairs/within/inside the shop
on a mezzanine level, nothing too fancy, quaint & livable
(put in an elevator outside so my dad can get up easy)
have a couple of lifts, 2 x 4 post for storage & a 2 post
& a pit (?) maybe 1 whole wall be a work bench
& electricity & air every 10ft, water & a bathroom, urinal at a min.
& an upper storage area, to keep the shop floor clear...

I think the budget is gone already now...

The lifts will leave you out of space for any kind of drive thru. Think bigger. I have a 4 post and a 2 post lift in my 30X60 barn at home and that eats up a lot of space. It's 18X60 upstairs to.

A house in Texas, with enough land for a huge garage for my cars... and the middle finger to goofytooth as I leave New Jersey.

:thankyou: I did the stuff for a living for 35 years...
