Anybody put coilovers on their 73-74 b body? I have a 73 roadrunner and have give it some thought but want to hear from someone whose done it first. What set up did you use? How much did it run you? And can you tell the difference handling wise? Overall good or bad?

Had em on a drag car but never a street car....

the original inner fenders never intended of having the springs on them - they'll need to be rienforced, i suggest if your getting them to get the inner fender braces from xv motorsports and the engine braces from magnumforce racing so you have both sides covered...

1973 and up B-bodies did not use the inner fenders for suspension anchor points. All suspension is mounted to the k-frame.Could probably be done with some k-frame modification/reinforcement at the upper control arm mount plate.

I was just looking at the pics of my bird and I don't know about that one. Seems like a total redesign to do coilovers.

The biggest problem I see is the shocks going through a pretty limited space in the K. The upper part of the shock attatches to the upper control arm mount. It's a rather short shock and not the same as the earlier cars.

As I was looking at it I didn't know if it could be done by looking at how big around most of those springs are and the length of travel for it without interference. I thought I had seen somewhere that somebody was making tubular uppers and lowers for these cars with the intent of running coilovers but I could be wrong. I am not in any big rush on restoring this car as I had a picture in my head of what I wanted it to be so a lot of figuring and thinking goes into it since everything for a b body gets listed like 68-72 or 71-72 only.

Firm feel is selling tubular upper control arms for the 73 b body but not for coil overs I believe

Check with dick at firm feel.

Thanks Ralph

A little off the subject but is that a big block going into a small block car? Inner fender just looked like a small block car to me and I was wondering how tight it is?

Fricken tight. When I did this, nobody seemed to mention the whole "it's gonna be close" deal. It's what I get for working at a chevy shop.

If anyone wants some photos and dimensions to cut out the small block inner fender to big block like chrysler did it let me know. I have a bunch of photos and dimensions taken form a 73 BB RR GTX car. i cut mine out from the wheel well side and bought the rubber flap from year one. gives pl;enty of clearance with the headers and you can get to the spark plugs as well.
looks good

Just PM me and i will email ithem to you

I don't know man. I could be wrong, but I don't think you have a 2.5 - 3 inch hole to put a coil over through. Man, now I gotta go climb under the beast and look.
