Aftermarket windshields: Who's did you buy and did you like it?

Crap, called Summit because I ordered the windshield on 3/02 and it still hadn't shown up.

They said it was backordered until June! #*(%&@)!#$.

So much for getting to play with the car this spring...

PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass) sold 60% of it's glass business to a newly formed American company call PGW (Pittsburgh Glass Works). A majority of all the glass by PGW is American made. There is still PPG glass out there in limited supply.

Off PGW's website:

If you're worried about getting Taiwan/China glass......That's where AMD glass is from, just like all their sheetmetal. I bought a set of AMD Quarter windows (with Taiwan stamped on the box) for my roadrunner and am not impressed with its fit (especially on the mounting bottom edge) or its blurry/unfocused blotches in certain areas. I will be replacing as soon as I can find a real nice OEM set.

Thanks Will I had been wondering about the AMD glass myself

Got a message from AMD confirming that they are all out of the clear on so I guess I'll go ahead and change my order with Summit to the tinted one...

For my 63,

I ordered an AMD from Summit. It was the least expensive from the research I did.
Free shipping too and it fit great, I can't see any distortion either.
My regular glass guy installed it with a new gasket I had.
Now I'm afraid to drive it.
Here in Arizona Chipped windshields are almost a yearly occurrance, Three in my Dodge Ram, Two in the wifes Highlander, Two in my Daughters van.

Good to hear. Just got off the phone with them and changed to the tinted one that was in stock.

I did lots of research as well and they were as much as $500 shipped! :angry1:

I've been told that all the gaskets are nowhere near the original in quality. That being said, which one is the best gasket available.

Mine was not salvageable.

just installed a amd one on my 71 RR, The installer was very impressed with it, it was pretty heavy and he mentioned how alot of the aftermarket companies out there are running thinner(cheaper) ones

I used PPG glass for my 68 Charger. Ended up paying $120 for the glass and like $65 for the gasket from Steele - Installed it myself

The tinted glass showed up from Summit (AMD) today! Whoo hoo!
