I just had a lightbulb moment!! I believe I will ditch the leaky pump from the old compressor and hitch up the tank alone to the new one to double the volume of air available...120 gallons of air at 155 psi. What would happen if I replaced the smaller 3.7 HP motor on the new compressor with the 5 HP motor from the old one? More PSI or would it be a bad idea?

I say do both. Can't hurt anything. Just take a bit for both tanks to fill.

Heh,heh,heh,...guessss whhaatttt I gootttt? A nice TALL Weiand tunnel ram 2x4. Time to see about slicing a hole in the hood....

With the air compressor, if you double the tank size but not the pump size. The pump likely wont be able to build up to your cut off pressure and run almost constant. You would wear out or overheat the valves in that pump quickly.

your right.

The pressure switch dictates tank pressure. Some are adjustable.

Old school tunnel ram

what about that hood you spent all that time on ???
just get another flat stock hood, cut that up !! maybe ?

Good question. Don't know, perhaps i'll head up state to Gates Salvage and buy the hood off of that 66 wagon. Or I can always slice a hole in the one I have. I have not decided yet what combo i'll go with, the RPM 440, the tunnel ram, or the M1. I think the Express would like cool with the current hood and a chrome bug catcher sitting just above the surface of the center slope.

I like the Bug Cather Enderle hat on a tunnel ram idea,
that'd be bad ***...

Do it EFI I'd assume ?
or are you talking about a fake
Hat sticking out the hood on a 4 bbl or something ?

I thought of doing one on an EFI setup too...
Just have a 6bbl already, I may go to a 6bbl EFI someday {?}

sorry for picture quality

Are those Hamburger valve covers?

I see what IQ 52 is saying about performance/ budget/ intended use. On the other hand I have always wanted a car that snapped necks when it rolls up to a meet or show. I think the front of the Express down a bit low and that bug catcher sticking out of the hood would be a statement. I may have to hold off until I can scrap up the cash to buy all of the gear to make that happen. The 440 in the truck i'm buying is a complete running engine. I may stick it in the car for this year while I attack the other 440 I have on the stand and build it with the tunnel ram in mind for later. We shall see..

I came across this pic yesterday, and it represents fairly closely, what I want the end result to look like for the Express. Other than it being a convert of course.

A hat on top of two 600 CFM Holleys mounted sideways?

Took apart the solid rust disc brakes for the front today. Had to use a BIG hammer and a lot of Break free to get them apart. The calipers had rusted to the discs. The spindles look fine, they were full of grease still and spun freely after the calipers were off.. These discs are like 29 bucks at Autozone and the calipers too.

Fun stuff, those don't look like much fun to get apart at all:eek:.

I don't believe it! Pics or it didn't happen, lol!!!
