Pulling my 4 speed trans just want to know if unbolting top bolts first before removing cross member would cause a problem I don't see? Top bolts are tough to get at. Don't need any broken ears.
tunnel is tight and my x-ram is close to firewall. Motor is set back closer to firewall than stock. Made motor mounts by tracing 66 k member hemi mounts. That probably set the motor back some.No problem at all. I've usually found that it's easier to take the cross member out first (holding trans with jack), let it down & then take the top bolts out since the firewall/trans tunnel isn't in the way anymore.
I have to replace the front seal in mine too! It just puddles up in the floor every time I pull it in from a drive."Use to" is the by word, no more. have a yoke in tail shaft. Have floor jack with a 1/2" piece of plywood bolted to it and a couple of 2x3's bolted to it so it won't roll off the sides. I Hope. Just need to change front seal.
Good idea but my car was an auto and added a homemade hump for shifter, Ugh. It's really tight. Think a 3' extension and a joint will work. Did this before hump were repo'd. Thanks for the suggestion.Get a long extension and swivel on the end and go through the shifter hole for the top left bolt, you can get the top right bolt from underneath.
