Any Trickflow track performance examples available?

The power out of the TF240 and TF270 heads are great and they’re fantastic street car heads. I really think the Indy line really picks up where the TF heads leave off and are probably the way to go for most big power race engines. With the new owners, Indy’s future looks good. Even the website is better already. That thing sucked.

It would be good to see them fix things. I bought a 4150 Max wedge port intake for my RB and the quality sucked. Worst part is that it is fixable in the molds they use but they have chosen not to forever. Hopefully they will fix that going forward. What would be really cool would be if they did a manifold similar to the old 337 manifold for those of use that would like to keep the carb a little lower. The -1's are a little more robust above .700 list numbers and I don't think the 270's can match them no matter how much work you do to them but for under .700 lift I will take the 270's any day. Mine flow [email protected] which is right in line with some of the better -1 numbers I have seen. And the customer service and quality is way higher than Indy at this point.

Yes, good to hear.
Given my HP and torque goals were 6XX before I decided to go with an aluminum aftermarket block, and now I'm going to have a 541 cu in mill, and my preference is a solid flat tappet cam, I'm pretty sure the cam is likely to be .700 or less in lift.

I would agree. I really like mine but don't have any results to share yet so I was hoping some others would. There are lots of folks that have shared some great Indy headed examples of builds and what kind of times they run but I haven't seen to much that way from guys running the Trickflows. That's what I was hoping this thread would wind up like. I'm looking for a kind of a "Post your 10 second combos with TrickFlows" or "Post your 9 second combos with TrickFlows" thread. I have founds lots for Indy and for Edelbrocks, but not much from Trickflow users.
I have run the 270s on both my 440 and 505 motors . Great out of the box , checked seats and valve clearance were fine . I wouldnt go dual plane on a max wedge , jmo , kind of negates why you are using them . Buy the tf valley plate while you are at it .

Good point. I have been looking for the intakes, any RB 3x2 capable intake, that either has or can be modded to Max Wedge ports. The Edelbrock/Chrysler aluminum 6bbl intake can be modded to Max Wedge port size, but on a 541 cu in MW port engine that intake is just too restrictive.
The Indy ModMan seemed to be the frontrunner, but then....
I've been made a good offer to buy a Weiand P3690982 6bbl crossram, and this time I think I'm going to do it!
I guess I'll save money not having to complete my N96 hood:p:D:rolleyes:

My heap is 4K lbs race weight,520 CI,4 speed, TF 240s ported to MW size (270s weren't out yet) 370cfm@700. I run a 337 intake, ported to full MW size.
Best time is 11.22 with too much tire spin.
Heads were really nice OOTB.
Head porter said exhaust guides were a tad tight, but would have been fine to run as sent.

Cool! When you say too much tire spin, what kind of 60' times are you looking at? Do you have any additional info you'd be willing to share? Carb and Cam size, compression, gearing, etc.? Who did the porting for you?

Thanks in advance.

What mph did it run?

Tex013, do you by chance have any track numbers (and possibly dyno numbers too) for either of those motors?

My 60 fts are dismal, 1.6x is my best with 2+ happening when the tires blow off.
I have just installed Assassin bars and am waiting on Viking shocks, as my truck shocks just unload.
The CR is 10.1, 260/266 solid FT cam, 1050ish Thumper carb, 4.10 gears with 26x10.5 tires.
I am still getting it sorted out, here is a FB video of my last run and associated tire spin through 1st, 2nd, and halfway through 3rd if anyone cares.

I went to a a chassis dyno after my last rounds of upgrades, the first and only run that was recorded before the dyno laptop stopped working, was 650 hp @ 6400 RPM and 711 TQ @ 4600 RPM.
My previous times were not even close to that HP, so it may have been a happy dyno.

I too have abysmal 60ft times, but Calvert mono leaf springs and Assassin traction bars, sliders, and Viking double adjustable shocks for the rear (since that's what is on the front, and I would rather have more adjustment than needed rather than less) are my plans to fix the rear suspension.

I went from XHD springs clamped in front, and unclamped in the rear, to the Calvert mono without the bars, big mistake.
There is no real separation to plant the tire.
Oh well, it's only money.

500ci,Trick flow 270's, Track heat manifold port matched. Bullet cam CRB287/287-09R Grind, 645 lift, Ultimate converter 9.5@4800. 28x10.5x15 hoosier. Calvert with mono leaf springs. 4220 lbs with my fat *** in it. best time 10.85@125 1.52 @60 shifting at 6500. For the money IMPO trick flow is the way to go.

Money I have not yet spent...
So Calvert calls them "split mono leaf springs" but I assume we are talking about the same thing?
More importantly, spare me the pain and tell me, What leaf springs should I replace my (assume worn out) factory stock performance springs with? Or am I OK and in a different situation because I am definitely going to use the Assassin bars with whatever springs I install.
Thanks.

I went with the calvert split mono leaf 225lb spring weight on my 65 coronet.

65Fury440, are you saying you are running the springs alone and no assassin bars or calvert bars? If so, the front section of that spring may not be stiff enough to give you the lift you were getting before. I am not familiar enough to be able to say but if they were designed for use with the bars, they may not be ideal without them. There is a reason the SS Springs had the multi leaf front sections set the way they were. They acted a lot like a ladder bar by virtue of their stiffness.

Wow, those are marginal for sure. At that trap speed I would expect 1.45 (or close to it) 60' times and 10.90's to 11.0's. Can you PM me a link to your video? It won't come up from your post.

At 3690lbs , 505 , .600 lift flat tappet 10.25@129s ( 28" radial )
At 3690lbs , 440ci , .520 lift flat tappet 10.71@126s ( 30" radial )
At 3780lbs , 505ci , .600 lift ft , 10.27/[email protected] , (30" radial )
Best sixty is 1.42 with 505ci . I think with 440 was 1.46 . Sixty is a little soft for et . Only have 4.1 gear . Tnis is 11:1 on pump gas wuth street exhaust to diff .
