My 1967 Belvedere Convertible Plans and Restoration (aka - Mad Scientist Build)

HELP . . . I have no idea what this hole is for, but it's kinda in the way of my new core support.

Can anyone show me a picture of what attaches here ? ?

View attachment 153783

I've not attached the core because I don't want to lose these holes if they are needed . . .

They've got me baffled . . . anybody know ? ? ?

There is a little air dam that bolts on the front there.

I really hope you aren't missing yours since I just scrapped two of those...

you can see mine in the photo.

Thanks KB ! ! ! Now that I've got an idea of what is "suppose" to go there, now I can start to look through the pile of parts that I've got laying around with the car and see if I can find something that resembles that air dam . . . so I can figure out how to make it all work.

Thanks for the help KB - that's what I needed . . . Whooohooo ! ! !

Hunting for my missing part . . .

Took some time to dig in the garage and see if I could find the missing splash guard/air dam thingy for the front of my car. Which led me to a bunch of clean up of the shop to make some room and give me space to move around. Turns out ( I'd forgotten ) that a couple years ago when I started this project, that I had also started to collect the undercoating that was removed from the car too . . .

And in the process of cleaning up the garage, I stumbled on this:

sm_boxtoo.jpg

So now the weigh in will include a box and 4 pails full of "junk" removed from the car - after I get the last of the undercoating removed.

And . . . I could not find the missing part, but my shop is a bunch cleaner and more organized ! ! !

I take the small successes ! ! ! ( grin )

Small victories are important and I always feel better once I clean up the garage .. clearing clutter clears the mind and gives you a fresh out look, well in my case anyway

It's OFFICIAL ! ! ! Undercoating removal has completed ! ! !

IT'S OFFICIAL - UNDERCOATING REMOVAL IS COMPLETE

It's been a long journey, but it's finally come to an END ! !

Just spent about an hour in the shop and attacked the last of the undercoating on the car.

Here's the results:

sm_removalcomplete.jpg

I might stumble on a few odds and ends places where it'll need some touch-up, for the most part - I'm DONE ! ! !

YAY ! ! ! Now it's time to start the rebuilding process . . .

hot damm 67 that is a crappy job, now lets start building this thing. keep the pics coming in.

I remember it being a great feeling to put that job in the rear view mirror. Great work. On to bigger and better things.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I'm going to start the ball rolling here and take a guess on the weight of the undercoating and say 67 LBS including the weight of the buckets and box.

Good idea . . . was wondering if anybody was going to guess . . . However . . . keep this in mind on your guesses.

The buckets have been emptied into plastic bags . . . and to be as accurate as possible, I'll empty the box into plastic bags too . . .
Then we will have "mostly" the weight of the undercoating - plastic bags are negligible.

This is so much more fun then undercoating removal . . .

The bird weighed in at 10.65 pounds . . .

sm_turkeydone.jpg

The stuffing is traditional bread, with basmanti rice, hot sausage and large black olives
( forgot the mushrooms - they were in the fridge ! ! Argh ! ! )

Great idea ! Should do a separate post on it for fun. Maybe even work a poll in somehow but you have to come up with a prize that is not the undercoating itself !!! :)

Got to some cleanup today . . . found my trunk !

Finally found my trunk and a collection of parts stashed back there in the process.

Here's what I've found:

1 - starter
1 - waterpump
1 - coil
1 - battery holder
2 - motor mounts
2 - radiator hoses
3 - linkages ( see next picture )
1 - engine 7 blade fan ( why are they not evenly spaced ? )

sm_trunkparts.jpg

Here's the linkages - I didn't remove them and have no clue where they go . . .

sm_linkages.jpg

Found that my car has the original jack in the trunk . . .

sm_jack.jpg

For the most part, the shape of the trunk is very well - mostly solid, couple small areas of pitting.

sm_trunkshape.jpg

Got (2) areas here that are pitting and will be replaced . . .

sm_trunkpitting.jpg

After seeing the shape of most of the trunks on these projects, I guess I can count myself lucky ! !

Those look like your tranny kick down linkage for auto (passing gear)

Thanks roadrunnerman - that's what I thought, but didn't want to guess . . . since I have no engine, and no transmission - and have a 5 speed . . . looks like I've got even more parts to sell to people on this site that may be in need of them . . .

Once I get things figured all out, and know what I need . . . I'll have to post the parts for sale.

Thanks for the assistance . . .

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I was rooting around my shed today and found a bunch of parts I forgot about too... I have to get those listed for sale. Do you have a starter for the new hemi? I have a mini-starter that would work if you need it, its used but works well.

Anyway, I skipped out on turkey today and made steak and shrimp....so much better! haha

Also ordered the gauges for the Coronet...Speedhut (I'll post that in my thread tho)

Also congrats on being done with the undercoating. My guess for total weight is 57 lbs 10 Oz

Thanks KB . . . I've only got the "original" starter for the Hemi as of right now - was told that I'd need to change it over to a mini-starter, so I may need it.
( I don't care if it's used - it's going to get used a whole bunch more when I'm done )

Next year . . . I'm coming to your house for Thanksgiving ! ! ! ( smile )
