For The 60 And Over Members Here...

Well, I returned from riding my quad over to a buddies place to help him mount a new windshield on one of his quads and sucked down 6 beers there. The State has closed all our bars and restaurants so I guess I'll need more beer for home. Kinda living semi normal but, I will miss my socializing. I do have lumbar fusion scheduled for April 1st and hope I can get in past the Corona cases. I have 3 cases of Costco T. paper in stock! I'm 70.

You should be good! I hope your Lumbar operation goes well.

I'll be 69 in 6 weeks and have dealt with allergies all my life. It's no telling what my lung function is but several years ago, the back 80 lit up and even with a respirator, I got smoked out trying to protect my shop and house from ash spark. Ever since, my allergies have made a big shift for the worse and this year, everything is blooming early and heavy so I'm suffering from it. Anyways, I still feel fortunate to be only dealing with that so far.

Went to the grocery store this morning about 8:30 and while it wasn't crowded, the stuff I went for was sparse but there was enough so I'm happy. A buddy and I that usually goes for lunch at least twice a week had a mild stroke 4 months ago is being jailed by his daughter and says we can't go and said to do take out. What? What difference does it make if the restaurant is still serving customers?? The kitchen and the wait staff will still be subject to everyone in there so take out won't matter imo. 45 minutes later she said we could go around 2. Hell, by then, I already had a beer and was starting on a 2nd and ate at home and have been working on my car a bit so.....no out to lunch today. Oh well. I'll be glad when this crap is over!
How many things are you allergic to? I was allergic to 183 different things.

Hell I haven't even considered my allergies.... The last scratch test I did ( 30 years ago) I was positive on everything in the test to one degree or another. Add on a few medications and I'm back to livin' the dream. And I don't mean in a good way. There's one in particular that dam near killed me

I still work to keep busy, for now. Just do the things normally to avoid ANY virus, keep hands clean, avoid rubbing nose with hsnds, stay away from sneezing slobs.

As a newly minted Septuagenarian here, I am trying to best adhere to the advise about hunkering down and staying as much as possible out of the general population areas as best I can. I am trying to limit the outings for items I need or run out of, and stocking up to just hang here at the house. As has been suggested, those with chronic issues, I am wondering how those of us here on FBBO that have issues are doing what they can to try and not get the Wauhan Virus and also the Flu. I have COPD and Apnea and my breathing function is at 78% which is actually quite good for my condition. But for the most part, I am content to just stay at home and ride this thing out as best as I can. So how about all us Ol' Timers sharing exactly what each of us is doing to at least attempt to stay healthy and sane at this time. All the suggestions and tips/advise can go a long way in helping not only us Ol' Timers but everyone else. And Please...NO FOOKING TP BS!!! Enough of that crap already...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:
Your are about to the concentrator or oxygen bottle all the time if not all ready. I have both ailments myself along with allergies. At this point it will be what ever it takes to not loose more lung function. I just made sure there was adequate meds in the house so that there was no fear of running out. Medicare starts next month and did not want to get caught up in the prescription switch. Right now we are just staying away from those ailing as always. No longer making the morning QuikTrip stop and avoiding people we don't know. Had some prostrate problems last summer that almost did me in. The immune system got messed up pretty bad. We are self employed and I started the SS the first of this year. If all goes to pots we will just stay home and sit it out.

I’m over 60. I spent my Saturday night with a bunch of folks that didn’t want to self quarantine. I don’t know how much longer I can play but I’m going to until I can’t.

I’m 66 and sick of this ******* hype including this thread. Going to work, riding the train, Linda got the Charger Smogged. Just do normal stuff and stay ******* calm.
Yeah, what Dennis ******* said.
You all know me - not quite 60 (but close), 4x cancer survivor, 3x flatlined missing parts, others don't work so hot
anymore. Big deal. **** hurts, life goes on....
I actually went through what was diagnosed as an upper respiratory thing back in January, right before all
The virus stuff hit the news. Got bad enough that I was spitting blood and having trouble breathing.
Some breathing meds, antibiotics, etc. cleared things up in about a week, but they did call me last week to
ask if I wanted to be tested for the virus at the health department.
It's been too long, so no thanks, no purpose to it.

I got bigger fish to fry than worry about this virus crap and I'm not altering my behavior in the least.
I tend to wash up behind any public touching stuff anyways, force of habit from years of handling fire sprinkler
"skunk water". I use the provided sanitary wipes on the shopping carts at the store, always have, because
the inbreds from over the mountain don't flucking stay home when they're sick. :)
All this sensationalism ain't no hill for a stepper.

Damn, what a pity party this has become. I am 62 with two broken toes and an ACL repair from Martial Arts competition, a messed up hand from a dog attack, elbow and feet messed up from sand volleyball and a deformed finger from an alligator bite. When you have man injuries you don't talk about womb issues. Have your testosterone levels checked guys and never ever talk about this crap again.

Had many 'minor' injuries over the years but my back is the worse of it all. Hell, after all the crap I've done, I'm surprised there's still life in me! Many here already know some of the crap I've done to my body but a lot if it happened while having fun and hope there's enough left to have a bit more fun!

Roger, I'm up there too!! Even when I eat, my sinuses start flowing but at least food doesn't make me react any more than that thank God!

BIGS, been years since doing a test too but have learned how to control what triggers me. I deal with allergies all year long but the spring time is the worse....and don't even talk about cigarette smoke. Being around that for just 30 minutes will make me feel like crap for a good 3 days and doubling up on sinus meds doesn't seem to help much. Even getting a slight whiff will almost instantly cause my sinuses to react! Cigar and pipe tobacco isn't near as bad though....go figure.

I got a better idea, if you're done "man bragging" here....
how about everyone talk/write about whatever we damn well want to?

All these fellas (and myself) are describing physical ailments that they most likely did nothing to cause, after all -
they're not knuckle-dragging in here bragging about all manner of mostly self-inflicted, chosen-risk
ailments like you just did.
Big difference. Huge difference - and if you haven't walked a mile in any of our shoes, you don't have a
freaking clue what it's like.
Judgementalism isn't a good characteristic in a person, but if one is going to insist, I'd suggest it be reserved
for things other humans have chosen to do, not suffered from through no actions of their own.

In the meantime, everyone please feel free to continue commenting as you like. Most of us will respect it,
in some cases identify and commiserate, and carry on the conversation as intended.

Moparedtn...aren't you being judgemental?

Face it, chtampa only did what you suggested.

Time for another beer.

My brother has a Twin Turbo stinger.... that thing is badazz

Stay home as much as possible(leaves more time for beer!).

Thanks for clearing your first posting up for this thread. Seems most have a good view of my original intent here as to how we all can share what we are doing to get through this. Yet the "slamming" by others here seems to be the norm. Never will I understand it so I am letting it slide off my back because that is the nature of things. Many as you stated haven't walked the walk as you pointed out. They seem, to be the ones that like to deny themselves any sense of looking at this as an unwelcome event and so put a negative spin on what others have to say. But even though we are all of a different mindset, we at least have one thing in common here. Regardless of the spins, we are all in this BS together. Thanks to you again for your view point. It is all relevant...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Nope!!! Not even there yet. On this point you are sadly mistaken. Nothing from my Pulmonologist or Respiratory Therapist has been suggested as my next step and all tests and Xrays/scans have shown clear lungs so no O2. Besides, I won't be tethered to those things as every time I go to the VA, I see all these Vets dragging that damn bottle around or a bag with a tube strapped to the nose and shoulder. That ain't me and it will never be...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:
