I do that as a place holder, then go back and add pics from my cell phone. It's a handy tip

The 'art' is a life size bronze cast she did after the divorce. She's a big girl.

Made sure mom put fresh flags (USA and USN) on dad's crematorium - I'm in MD, they're in FL.

Fueled the Charger - tomorrow the interior comes out so it can go to the body shop to have the AMD floors installed on the driver side.

Then...went to my duplex to attack the plumbing leak. I just finished the upstairs kitchen last week, was running the new sink...and my tenant downstairs called "we have a problem -there's water coming through my ceiling!"

Opened the ceiling in the downstairs kitchen, and started checking the 1951 cast iron drain pipes for the upstairs apartment's kitchen sink. There were holes in the fittings big enough to stick a flathead screwdriver through, like a knife through butter - there's your problem!! Cut out everything from the upper sink, to the main stack pipe, and put in new PVC. Vertical pipe at the upper sink; a 90; a section of horizontal pipe; a 90; a section of straight; a 45; a short section of straight; and a rubber coupler to join the PVC to the iron.

Then at the bottom of the iron pipe (unfinished basement), I had to cut out a rotted 45, install another rubber coupler, some PVC, a PVC 45, some straight PVC, and a glue coupler to existing PVC.

Ran the upstairs sink to check for leaks - none. VICTORY!!! Um...kinda. DAMMIT, the sink is filling up! Pulled the rubber coupler off in the basement (bottom of the cast iron pipe) and a trickle came out. Ran the snake up the pipe, and WHAM. A chunk of rust and crap came out, and all the water that was in the sink. Well...it's an unfinished basement at least. Hooked it back up, tested the sink again...still good, and now it drains. I haven't patched the drywall in Patty's kitchen yet, gonna leave it open for a bit to make absolutely 250% sure it doesn't leak a drop before I do that. I did tape paper towels to the hole, under the pipes, to show any leaks if they happen.

Ordinarily I'd replace ALL the cast iron, but I figure a vertical 8' piece...shouldn't have anything sitting in it long enough to rust. It's the horizontals and the elbows that hold water.

Now, I'm "looking forward" to getting an upstairs tenant so that with regular use...the bathroom drains can fail next and I'll have to re-do them (and Patty's bathroom ceiling).

I just keep repeating my mantra - "I own it free and clear...all rent is profit...I own it free and clear...". Well..except property taxes, insurance, and quarterly water bills anyway.

Sunday was one of those days where everything goes south! Figured I'd brush hog one of our paths, got hung up then stuck in reverse.. tried backing down through the valley and found a swamp! I knew I found mud but when I hopped off and sunk 20" and left my shoes in there I knew I was in deep chit. To add insult to injury the kids left the house on so then it was on to priming the pump so I could take a bath.

Up to my brothers today, fix the Moline, couple tugs and it was out.

These old Molines are no joke when it comes to traction and power, hell the Massey stalled and he was still pulling it out and that's with the Massey sitting on it's belly!

My dad bought a G1000 Vista new. He did lots of custom farming

more work on my Cabin, tomorrow last wall and hopefully some trusses up

Better lock down all those materials - that **** is GOLD these days!

I'm living in my work n play hauler right Beside the cabin

Spent the day in the garage, doing non-garage-stuff. One of my JBL 4408A speakers had its woofer's foam surround fall to dust (it's only a 35 year old speaker...), so I disassembled the speaker, removed all the old foam bits, installed new foam, let it dry, and reinstalled the driver in the speaker. Works like a champ now.

Since I was in a "speaker" mood...I pulled out my PA system to prep for a gig I have on Friday night (FINALLY!!! LIVE MUSIC!!!). The last time this band did a show was with me, in January 2020.

I have six subwoofers. They all had a factory recall, for new drivers - the material in the cones would delaminate at the voice coil and you'd get a pop/flutter noise, until the cone finally tore all the way through. They sent me six brand new drivers (with a reformulated weave in the cone material), no charge. I'd replaced four of them already; today I replaced the other two so now all six are ready to rock.

Once they were replaced, I downloaded new firmware for the onboard amp/processor units and installed and configured that, for each of the six subs. I also checked firmware and config files for my tops (loudspeakers), but they were already up to date so no work needed there.

Then...I just had to test them out! So, I pulled out my Macbook that has the multi-track recording of that last show we did...and played it back through my digital mixing console. It's a "virtual soundcheck" feature, and basically it lets me mix the show just like when it was live...no musicians required. Each channel is controlled just like at a live gig, only instead of a live instrument input, it is using the multitrack recorded instrument/signal for each channel. I have full EQ, processing, and FX just like a live show, and it let me get things dialed in pretty well. I know the room we're playing on Friday, and I dialed everything in with that in mind. Of course, that just means the musicians are going to feed me completely different signals on Friday than they did at the last show... Ah...live music. Never the same thing twice!

I did discover that I'm missing four proprietary power cables - waiting to hear from a bass player I did a gig with (an outdoor wedding) about six weeks ago, to see if they ended up in his cable bin. Kinda pisses me off, since I MADE the cables specifically for my application...oh well, I can make more. But it still pisses me off.

Then, I got online and booked mom's flight to come visit in July. She'll be here for Carlisle (her birthday is Sunday, 7/11)! And, the Charger went to the body shop today for the AMD floor installation - should be done within a week, hopefully they stick to schedule so I have time to reinstall and detail as much of the interior as I can, before the show. I just hope I remember how those factory 3-point seatbelts go in!

Still got airplane crap cramping my car habit...

Made a headstone for my daughter's recently departed dog. We had since he was 4 weeks old, he almost made it to 17. It was an awesome dog, exceptionally smart and a loyal friend to my daughter through part of HS and all through college. He will be missed immensely. His name was Rip BTW.

I grew up with Minnie's we still have several including a few G1000 Vista's. It's neat that your Dad bought one new!
I Just brought home a 2 150 white(has a Minnie engine 585 cu in) going to install it in a 4x4 Moline A4T1600 that came w no motor. This particular A4T happens to be the Nebraska tractor test tractor. It came from a cousin that bought it new and still has 1070( the test number) on the hood. It will be a cool piece of history. Unfortunately the 2 150 is filling the crankcase with antifreeze...so I trailered it home yesterday. So much for the quick swap. 585 diesels are pretty much museum pieces...6 rod bearings run $900...if you can find them.

My dad worked at Oliver/White from 1963 till the doors closed in 1993.

He worked during the glory years for Minnie and Oliver. The White tractor on the trailer would have came from that Charles city plant and so would have our G1355 propane. My uncle was a Mineapolis Moline dealer in the mid 60s.

Spent 10 hours behind the wheel to go pick up a 68 Chrysler 300 2dr parts car and come home...440/auto, P/drum, power windows, rear defogger, bench seat, Blue on Blue. No papers or registration but guy was giving it away at $650 cdn!

How it sat when I got there...

Next morning in front of the shop at home...Ol' Patches didn't miss a beat the whole trip, gotta love the 1st Gen Cummins drive lines!



Interior cleaned up a little...



Should make a nice spare parts car for my 68 T/C wagon, and perhaps one day that 300 front end will end up on my wagon to make a 68 300 Wagon! ;)
