62 Belvedere 318 poly granny cruiser (one day i hope)

92 degrees out but actually felt good... got home from work, did some yard work then made the lines to the fittings... they fit soo good.. then i took them off to clear them and they fit like crap on the next install. but good enough for my crap.. I will say, i have never wanted a lift before. but doing lines under the car would be sooooo much easier with one..

Need to do the small lines to the cooler itself.. should be tomorrow, ran outa energy today ;)

I love my lift. As long as it's not occupied with another project which then means creeper diving. Watch for auctions etc in your area. Might be able to score one for a great price. I personally prefer 4 post over 2. Much more stable. Just need to be mindful of the height of the ramps when collapsed plus adding in the height of the car when on, then how much clear overhead you have. Will it clear when raised?

yeah. my garage is too short for one.. i'm ok working like a caveman still :)

K. got my car back together... ended up doing the lash AGAIN.... i am hating hydraulic with adjusters.. this time i did it with the covers off so i could try different preloads before buttoning up.. ended up 1 turn past zero which is about .041 preload. Interesting thing i found is that too much preload will make insane noise, like past .075 and they were insanely loud. almost silent now.

Power steering cooler works.. theres bout a 20* drop across the cooler..quick drive and pump was around 160..

Converter won't stall at all.. i'm stumped on that... really upsets me.

Brakes.... i have replaced everthing in the system more than once and they suck.. i bought a pressure gauge and i am only getting 400psi to the calipers.. 15/16 master cylinder from Cass.. I measured my brake pedal and had a 6:1 ratio.. which i would expect since it was a manual brake car.. really not sure where to go on that now.. i'm going to recheck the ratio though, doing it under the dash maybe i was wrong. **** was easier before the seat went in :) got hungry so didn't wanna do it tonight..

motor is still a dog.. it's just a temp motor but still disappointing.

remeasured the pedal.. 14" long, hole for the MC rod is 2.25ish (hard to see at an angle might be 2.5) which put me just above or below 6:1... 400 psi is way low with that ratio

Brake hoses collapsing inside? Bad metering block?
All new hard lines and have replaced the soft lines twice now.. second set from drdiff which are oem GM lines (i'm 90% sure) and quality pieces.. I ordered a power bleeder to try, i am wondering if a little air trapped in the MC could cause low pressure.. seems after a few pumps the air would be compressed and allow more than 400psi though.

Finally got to drive it to work.. no real issues other than stress :) rear end rides a bit hard.. not sure what to do bout that... and need to get taller front tires still, Hate the rake...

Looks great (Love the rake)

I feel like i'm driving downhill.... the front tires are 14"s which honestly are probably 30+ years old.. they are like rocks but zero dry rotting.. I have my new 15" rims ready to paint.. just gotta do it (next time i will just buy torque thrusts...

Also will need to find 9" dog dishes.. not sure if i wanna run 4 or just 2 on the front

Your mileage improves when you're going down hill.

Milage... I forgot how much old gas gauges swing.. this morning i'm like 1/4 Tank... need gas.. look down half a mile later.. near empty.. look again a few seconds later.. 1/4... stopped and put in $40 of 87... low compression baby!

K.. very unproductive day.... my brakes only push 400psi, not 1000 like they should... no idea where to look, hoping i have air trapped somewhere but i don't think it would kill the pressure that bad..

Ordered a pressure bleeder.. looks nice.. hook it up, supposed to pump it to 15psi.. i get to 8psi and the caps on the MC start pouring fluid out.. can't get them to seal.. useless crap..

Would a little air in the MC cause such a pressure drop? would think with a few pumps it would compress the air and show more pressure at the calipers? just grasping at straws...

ok.. gave up on that..

When driving home yesterday i noticed a bad vibration around 60, got to speed and still had it in neutral.. so.. when i did my pinion angle i wasn't too happy with it (i swear i measured everything and between measuring and welding perches it came out wrong).. Remeasured it today and i believe i have 7* which is not good in any way.. (pinion is down 4.5, trans is down 2.5)

Am thinking 4* wedges, and i can raise the trans and get 1* there.. my trans is a little low in the back anyway... Not cutting the perches off and redoing them.. couldn't do it right the first time anyway.. that would get me around 2*.. once again.. i might be thinking bout it wrong.. everytime i read bout checking pinion angle i get 20 ways to do it and 20 people arguing they are right....

Soo.. gave up on that for now... hooked up my trans gauge to the accumulator port.. Have a steady 100psi with the tv arm all the way forward... 150psi with the arm pulled back, not sure where it should be.. need to read up on that..

One step forward, two steps back. Keep at it!

Man.. Transgo just emailed me back and might have found my issue.. and i am a bit shocked if they are right... so... Car is a slug and won't rev or make decent power.. their guess is that it could be stripped splines on the stator on the pump.. which i doubt since no weird noise or anything dying.. BUT.. guy mentioned it might be a exhaust restriction, which i hadn't even considered..

I have dual 3" exhaust and before winter i had on Gibson MWA mufflers which sound amazing but i hated the raspiness, so i ordered the biggest $60 summit mufflers and switched to those in mid october then parked the car for winter.. Not wanting to rev and no power fit an exhaust problem.. It seems unlikely but it ran great before i parked it last year. Going to weld the gibsons back on and test. If that's the problem just.. man... Wasted like $1500 and a ton of stress.

Including taking the motor apart to check cam timing.. i went through everything trying to figure this out. And the symptoms do fit and exhaust issue..

P.S. did a quick search and found another guy who swapped mufflers and couldn't rev over 4k also. Wonder if the packing in them moved or something.

Got off my butt and tested the TC pressure.. 33ish at idle, 45ish in gear... which i believe is fine.. which is good news.

Too hot out to work on my car cept early morning :( Wedges for the rear still haven't shown up..

Yesterday i pulled the exhaust to change mufflers, redid my trans mount so it is like a trans mount now :) pretty happy with that... and... just waiting now.. 90+ and 90% humidity.. screw it...

Also paid off my mortgage today... so that's done.. Zero debt...

Agree with you on the 90°/90% deal. I have been so busy with other stuff I haven't even look at my cars for weeks. Congrats on the mortgage pay off.
